Thank you to the original poster Rick and others who have commented on this issue. I am a consumer lawyer from Michigan who has experienced the same run-around and difficulty getting my rebate....since 2005! I'd be interested in reading more about this from the original poster and others who feel they've been victimized by this scam.

well i got my bill today and noticed i was being charged more for dsl. i called and some jerk by the name of alex gave me the usual non sense that made no sense at all. i was pissed. so i called again a few minutes later and talked to a woman named paula and she explained things perfectly and i found that i had no problem at all, its just the confusing way the bill is layed out, which in my opinion is done on purpose to rip people off by confusing the hell out you. i dont know where they get most of there employees. at least i got a good one when i called back. i may cancel my dsl and phone service in the near future. maybe there is a cell phone in my future and i can always use the computer at the library.

i know SBC purchased at&t, and all that, but i dont care what anybody says, myself and a lot of people i know say the same thing..."they are now liars and cheats". as far as my rebate taking 10-12 weeks, try mine taking about 24 weeks, if i would have let them get away with it. that is if i ever would have seen it. not registering my dsl properly? bullXXXX. i did that. i made no mistakes about it. i did get my rebate back in the form of a credit on my bill. so i got my bill the other day and it was $0. the only way i got action was to complain to the state attorney generals office. they need to get a handle on their rebate system as in their own words "they have it contracted out". thats a poor excuse.

Just an fyi, SBC purchased at&t so the services, people and company ARE the same, just changed the name is all. Any rebate normally takes 10-12 weeks for processing. Being charged for "dial" services stems from not registering your DSL properly with the "dial" e-mail address upon setting up the DSL. I personally realized the same mistake. Sorry for the trouble you had.

well i did get a two calls from a woman, although i dont recall what department she was in. sounded like a department that handles the "cases that are reported to the fcc". i will say that after i reported them to the michigan attornety generals office they couldnt have jumped faster. anyways she said that she credited my next bill for $49.99. at least that is what she said will happen. my confidence is still ZERO. i read the rebuttal above, and i dont give a s**t what anybody says, when they repeatedly lie to you and try to rip you off...report their a*s's to your state attorney generals office or the fcc. you cannot trust the prople at att. i wont...not after this experience. when it was sbc they were great, not anymore. fight back. thats all i can say. i will update this again later.

AT&T is a HUGE corporation. That has goods and bads. The bigger a company, the easier it is to fall through the cracks. That's not an excuse, just an observation. I will tell you a "Buzz word" that works very well at AT&T. Ask to have your issue "escalated" another good phrase is "Public Utilities Commission". If the commission gets involved, a whole different department of the company jumps on it. good luck, S
