I sent the following letter to the AT&T Executive Officers, Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Trade Commission - I suggest YOU write all three as well! Make them stop this abuse!

Subject: Credit Protector Fees, Over the Limit Fees, and Late Fees

To whom it may concern I wrote the following letter to AT&T Universal Card on May 13, 2003 regarding my account:

I have written to you for the last FOUR MONTHS regarding the Credit Protector Fees on my account and you have been negligent in addressing the issue for me.

I have repeatedly asked you to discontinue this fee. It has caused my account to run over and incur extra fees and higher interest rates. I cannot fathom why you would blatantly ignore my requests and make no attempt to keep me a customer in good standing with you.

I want the credit protector fees removed for the last four months the additional fees incurred because of this removed and my interest rate dropped back to the original agreement we had.

After almost 7 weeks, on July 3, 2003 I received the attached letter indicating they would not honor my previous requests to correct my account.

The fees I have been incurring for 5 billing cycles now is as follows:

Credit Protector Fee $35.54

Late Fee $35.00

Over Credit Limit Fee $29.00

I asked for the Credit Protector Fee to be stopped 5 billing cycles ago. I have made a payment of $110.00 on this account, which is the usual payment, on time, every billing cycle. But due to the Credit Protector Fees they continued to add to my account and the Over the Credit Limit Fee that was caused by them not honoring my written request to remove this from my account, I was slapped with the late fees, etc.

For 5 billing cycles these fees alone come to $497.70.

They also raised my interest rate from 14% to 28% because of this error that they refuse to acknowledge or correct.

This is simply the big company taking advantage of the little guy. They want to claim that these charges are valid and non-refundable when they clearly did not do as I requested on purpose to keep these charges accruing.

This blatant activity is going all with all the Credit Card companies to try and make another buck. It is appalling and un-American.

I want the 5 billing cycles of abuse removed from my account and the low interest rates returned I have not been a bad consumer they have been scamming me!
