AT&T Wireless Rebate Rip-off Program
In March of 2001, I ordered new cell phone service from AT&T with the promise of a $60 dollar rebate. My activated phone arrived within days of my order, along with a rebate card I competed and returned for my rebate. That was back in March and I still have not received my $60 rebate.
I have placed no less that 20 phone calls since mailing the rebate card and sent 5 emails to different AT&T agents and customer services representatives leading me on a trail resulting in a response to call the phone number I had called on my first call in the attempt to collect the promised rebate.
After not receiving the rebate 6 weeks after mailing in the card I placed my my first call and after given several different numbers to call taking me back to the first number I called, I became angry and demanded to talk to someone that could help me. I finally reached someone who seemed to be checking a file and verified yes indeed I was eligible for the rebate but, I was told, it takes 8 - 10 weeks to receive the rebate. Nowhere did it state this on the rebate card. After not receiving the rebate 12 weeks after mailing the card I called again and was told I needed to wait 2 more weeks and call back again. I waited the 2 weeks and called back.
I was told that a check was issued and mailed several weeks earlier. I told them I did not receive the check. They said they would have to wait another 60 days before they could reissue it. I called exactly 60 days later and was I told I needed to call back tomorrow. I called back the next day and they reissued the check.
After not receiving it for 3 weeks I called and they said it was "in-process", but could not tell me when it would actually be mailed. I called again 3 days ago and was told that "it is in the end stages of process" and "probably" has been mailed already but it won't be known for sure for 72 hours.
