Balleys Total Fitness ripoff Norwalk California
In October of 2000 I signed up for Balley's in the local mall (Ontario Mills). I was told by the saleman that I have 3 days to cancel, and I would have to go into any Balley's to receive my membership card. Within 2 days I canceled by phone, and I never received a membership card. Without my knowledge the membership fees were taken from my checking account, and continued up to 6 months totaling $203.42.
In the process of purchasing a vehicle in November of 2002 the dealer informed me of a deliquent Balleys account for $900.00. I was very upset by this and telephone Balley's the following day. I was told that my membership was never canceled, and this is an open account and they were unable to cancel it.
I am responsible for this amount. I was also told that I could only cancel my account in writing and this was on the contract. I was never told this by the saleperson, or by the person I spoke to on the phone when I cancelled my account. I was 19 years old at the time, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I would not like this to happen to any other young person.
Can you please help me in removed from my credit report. And possibly getting my money back.
