This is the letter I wrote to Headquarters of Bally Total Fitness. Let me remind everyone that this Physical Trainer was a complimentary when I sign up. I havent been back since. Please feel free to voice any opinions you may have.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter in regards to my experience with Bally's Total Fitness. Unfortunately I have to admit that my total experience which was indeed very short was also very unpleasant.

I decided to join Bally's Total Fitness (106th Spanish Harlem) on August 10, 2005. I signed up for the Fitness B plan. The next day I was appointed to a Personal Trainer. Prior to my workout at 12:00 noon I was given a 10 min assessment. I told the trainer my true weight 214lbs and that I haven't worked out extensively in a very long time. After that we proceeded to the 2nd level of Bally's.

My total workout included stretching. My workout; which consisted of lunges 15 reps 2 sets with 5 lbs and 3 lbs bells. Leg lifts 20 reps (straight back and side ones). Jumping jacks 20 reps 2 sets. Squats 15 or 20 reps 2 sets. Then on the Elliptical for 15min. During my workout I was fine and the trainer allowed me to rest 2x before continuing. To complete my workout I was stretched out on the table by the trainer.

Leaving the gym my legs were very weak etc. I expected this since I never was trained by a trainer before and was quite excited about joining Bally's and losing weight.

As the day progressed the pain in my lower half of my body increased greatly. I could barely walk with out pain. Even short distances from m home to the grocery store which is across the street were a task. I could no longer walk up or down a flight of stairs.

I spent the majority of two consecutive days in my bed in agonizing pain. I couldn't even bring my left leg to my right leg together WHILE LYING DOWN IN BED. I told myself ok it was a tough workout but all I need is to soak. So I managed to hobble to the store to purchase some products. Soaked in alcohol and Epson salt. I also proceeded with Icy Hot to see if that would do the trick, it did not.

My whole lower half of my body was extremely ripped and in total shock from that work out. The medicine bath did no justice for me. I cried sitting down in the tub. The pain was so excruciating. My mother and grandmother became worried for me and told me that I need a day to rest. We all agreed that this would pass.

On August 12, 2005, I woke up with even more pain and when I proceeded to walk to the bathroom I almost fell. I couldn't use my right foot. I couldn't heel/ toe my right foot at all. I was walking on the side of my foot. I decided to go to the Emergency room scared that maybe I had a hairline fracture etc.

On my birthday August 12, 2005 I had the pleasure to visit a hospital at 7:30am about my condition. My diagnosis was tendonitis (see attached doc.) The doctor recommended that I should also get an MRI to make sure I was really ok.

I suffered greatly from this training experience causing me to be in bed for about 2 days with limited mobility. I couldn't believe that this was happening to me after one training session.

I decided I wanted to report this to Bally's and get a refund. The personnel at Bally's seemed to take this situation very lightly no pun intended. I was then given attitude by the manager of the store etc which was very unnecessary since I was the one who was hurt not him.

Overall, I am extremely disappointed in the treatment I was given from staff. It was very unprofessionalI definitely didn't like the feeling like my money meant nothing to the company and my injury was a joke.

When I explained the situation to the manager he was so quick to cancel my membership. THAT IS NOT THE POINT!!!! I KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE but that doesn't fix everything. Why was that? My weight? Would I have been taken seriously if I had joined as a smaller person?

Discriminated is what I felt. Like Oh, here we go again another big person complaining about her after workout soreness? Sorry to disappoint everyone at Bally's Inc. but I know the difference between a little soreness and excruciating pain, PLUS GETTING INJURED. DOES THAT SOUND LIKE SORENESS TO ANYONE? What happened to quality assurance? The customer is always right?

I was treated below average standards by management and by my trainer. I am not doubted any credentials of the trainer but I feel that whoever gives the ok for a certain workout that is given should be specified for each individual. If this was done then it wasn't done right.

I did my part. I was honest with the trainer about my exercise habits before Bally's or lack there of. I put my total trust in the trainer since he is the one who has had extensive training this sort of occupation (certs etc.) He is the professional.... And if a trainer is employed and is able to wear the Bally's shirt that says personal trainer then he takes on a great responsibility in representing Bally's Inc as a whole not just his/her self.

From my first experience with Bally's I would have to be honest and say that the professionalism at the store was poor. Is this the kind of image you want to portray? If so then keep up the horrible work.. your on a roll.

On August 15, 2005 I decided that getting my money back is the smartest decision I ever made. Bad thing is I now have no exercise program and a wonderful limp to remind me of Bally's Inc. Thanks a million.

I don't think I would be so frustrated if I wasn't treated like my pain and suffering was a paper cut that needed a Band-Aid. I also wanted to express the policy that I have to wait 2-3 weeks for my money to be returned to me. I gave you my $100.00 and it was taken out my acct so fast and now that I want it back I have to wait for red tape. Amazing.

I understand why people frown when Bally's is even mentioned. The manager of Bally's 106th told me that he would call me when he finds out some information. And I will get my money in 2-3 weeks.

I don't trust him or any personal in that facility, especially after the way he handled my situation. He didn't even want this situation to go to corporate. You want to cancel. So quick to cancel me without really taking care of this situation the way it should have been.

Now it's about my money.. I'm not going to let him take care of anythingsince it seems like my paper work will be lost somewhere in the air and then what. I get a notice that I can't be refunded. Yeah right.

I hope I don't have to go by other means to get compensated, please tell me that I don't have too. Not over $100.00. My pain and suffering is worth more than that. I'm still not in the clear for Bally's sake I hope I don't need surgery.

PLEASE FEEL THE NEED AND EXTREME NEED TO INVESTIGATE MY CASE AND REFUND MY MONEY PROMPLTY ASAP!!!!! ENCLOSED IS MY DOCTOR'S PAPER WORK AND MY RECEIPT OF MY DOWNPAYMENT FOR MY PLAN.

Please free to contract me via cell xxx-xxxx
