My Pug has dry eye and needs eye meds for life. I took her to Banfield inside Petco for a routine eye exam to get another RX. I was there almost 4 hrs then they charged me $260 and charged me double for the eye meds and allowed for two refills. When I called to have them send the RX to on outside pharmacy (half the price) the head VET refused unless I brought her in for him to exam even though I was only refilling a RX his vet had written. This company is a HUGE ripoff, now I have to incur the expense of going to another vet just to get the eye ointment that my dog has been on for over a year, has been examined for, and needs for the rest of her life. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE, plus I found out there is no one in their hospital at night so pets that are ill or have had surgery are left there unattended, imagine leaving your loved one in an empty hospital.

"I don't know of even a single vet that has somebody stay the night every single night at the store."

You do now.

My position at the animal hospital I worked at for a number of years was as the live in caretaker & attendant. I had a small bachelor suite provided to me, utilities included and a small monthly stipend in return for being on site all night, doing a walk through of the kennels about every hour and being available to render response to after hours emergency calls from clients as well as doing patient animal discharges at the end of the day.

I held this position until the owner/vet of the hospital succumbed to cancer.

Just sayin'.

It's not PETCO it's PETSMART. Petco doesn't have a vet in the stores. And yes they leave them at night. But an employee stays late to walk them and make sure they have food, water and comfort, and someone shows up very early in the morning to do the same. I don't know of even a single vet that has somebody stay the night every single night at the store. If you're going to get mad, get mad at the correct company for one and also use common sense.
