I dealt with my first credit union 1 year before you were born! I have dealt with 2 more since then. All of them nightmares. I have had multiple bank accounts at the same time, but have always kept BofA. Crdit unions are much harder to deal with and have much more rigid rules. Wait til you have a problem. You will see. And the rates are not always better at a credit union, and qualifying is much harder. I used to be a loan officer. I do know a little bit about how banks work.

Oscar, I was an OTR truck driver and would use my credit card and debit card multiple times a day every day seven days a week all over the country and NEVER got either card blocked. I can show you the statements. And those fees you mentioned, I never paid any of them. Not in 15 years! Maybe new accounts or those with something questionable going on have a problem, but I neverf did. I can't wait for you to get a good taste of that credit union's policies and fees!

I previously worked for the bank and this is a reason why I quit. I worked in the Credit Card Fraud detection dept. It was the worst job I have ever had. We blocked peoples account if they would purchase gas twice in a day or made purchases more than fifty miles from the billing address. You have no idea how many times I left people stranded in a taxi or paying for the grocerys. It was ridiculous! I feel guilty to this day for having had stepped in the building. To respond to your comment about a credit union being more expensive to use...your wrong. They interest rates that they have are ALWAYS LOWER! Your a member not a customer. You don't get charged for having an account (direct deposit or not... its FREE) Bank of America might have more ATM's but if you use someone elses $2.00 pluse whatever the other institution charges you. My credit union doesn't charges me to use other ATM's and refunds me what other banks charge. Further more... this does not happen often but if your account is ever overdrafed you don't get charged $10 for "over draft protection". They simply take the amount from your saving account and apply it. Bank of America charges you $10 for transfering 100.00 from saving to checking... Overdraft by $1, get charged $10 and get $100 trns. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. Just another way for the giant to make money...Overdraft any account get a $34 charge. Credit union $20... Numbers don't lie! If this situation would have happened with a credit union...the OD charges would be $400 nearly half... I am planning to have my school pay for the OD fees...but since they are so ridiculous I have to file a lawsuit. Bank of america will have closed my account by then. What am I supposed to do Mr bank of America? What would you do? Pay the bank and let them walk all over it? Where did the bank lose money? Tell me where the bank if losing money and I will pay your bank tomorrow!

The college didn't process the correction to your auto-debit and when they presented the transaction to your BofA account, it was rejected correctly. If they were supposed to debit your credit union account, why didn't you demand that the school pay you back for the OD fees and reimburse BofA based on that? Also, you say that you are now overdrawn by $791. Obviously more has been presented to your account than just your tuition check. $791 equates to at least 20 overdrafts other than 3 presentments of your tuition check. What are these 20 overdrafts from, and why do you feel that you are not responsible for these items? Would these charges not have been overdrawn if the tuition didn't get presented? If so, then you should demand the college pay these back as well. If the situation were reversed and it was your credit union account being debited by mistake causing OD fees, then you would be on here writing a report against XYZ credit union. The fact is that this isn't the bank's fault, it is the college's fault.

I can understand you are frustrated because you are not getting the answers you want, but I see a few things here that are common in people making complaints against banks. Don't take this the wrong way, but you are 20 years old and it sounds like this was your first real banking experience and you are unfamiliar with how the bank operates and nevr read your banking agreement. I can tell you that I have been with Bank of America for over 15 years with both a checking account and a credit card. I have never had a problem with them. Even when I made a mistake, they fixed it without any problem, and reversed charges. You are 20 years old. I mean really thats young and I think you should use this as a learning experience and move on. I am 42 and still learning. It is not Bank of Americas job to be sure you change your automatic payments properly, or to see that you have enough money in your account to cover your charges to it. These things are your responsibility, and yours alone. I am sure that Bank of America would have helped you set this stuff up properly before there was a problem, if you would have asked. I hope you get this fixed and move on, but don't think a credit union is better than a bank, because they have stricter guidlines and fees for everything, worse than a bank. Good luck~
