Even when the original creditor sells your account to a collection agency, the original creditor will continue to report the account until 7 years from the date of first (continuous) delinquency, regardless of what settlement arrangements you come to with any subsequent collector. If they've updated the account as "Settled" this is probably the best that's going to happen. It sounds like your 7 years should be up soon, so the only idea I can offer is to be patient.
