I have had a 5 year lease with B of A since 1998 and it's almost up. B of A has me down for being late on my payments 10 times in the last 3 years. I have only been late once. after they stated playing this game with me I started making my payments at the bank so I would get a receipt which states the date on it for my protection.

Bank of America continues to do this every 2 or 3 months. I have asked them to send me a printout of all the times I was supposedly late. They would say "ok we will send it to you", didn't receive it. After a couple of weeks of waiting e-mails and letters, nothing. This went on for 6 months. One of the managers I spoke to said he would at least dismiss the late fee for that month, he didn't. I finally spoke to a manager named Kelley she acctually seemed like she was interested in helping me and did send out the print out, but since then there has been more late fees added on.

So it looks like I'll have to take B of A to court for over $1,000 in late fees that were not late. I'm gathering my bank statements, checks, other info, including the new dates they say I now owe.

I also had a checking account several years ago with my ex-wife and when we went to close the account, they acted like we were robbing the place. All the tellers looked at us and the manager was asking 20 questions about why we were closing the account. We were puzzled by their reaction. The manager tried to get us to open seperate accounts we refused because we already had other accounts at other banks and no longer needed an other account.

The bank people looked shocked and wouldn't let up. I told them I have closed accounts before at other banks and all they did was ask why, I gave my answer and that was it. (Back Furthermore, I stated that I was tired of them draging this out, it was none of there business as to what I do with my money. The manager reluctently gave us our money and all the workers staired at us as we left the bank. It was creepy.

I once closed my account w/ B of A just a day after I created it. I did that because I felt bad about leaving my other bank which happened to screw me on a deposit that they failed to post (lucky for me, i had the transaction receipt). I re-activated my account towards the end of October and have had an awesome time since then. BofA is great!

Bank of America plays games with your money all the time. They think nothing of breaking the law, either, taking a chance that you will not get an attorney. Have you tried physically going to the bank with your documentation to SHOW them? It probably wouldn't hurt to drop a very broad hint at that time that there is a lawyer waiting in the wings, on retainer, a real barracuda who eats banks three times a day. Don't let them get their hands on your original documents, either. Take copies that they can copy. They can "lose" papers between the teller's counter and the copy machine. I would at least try to intimidate them a bit before I did the court grind. They are a national disgrace. B of A HATES to close accounts. They want to treat you like dirt then act lightning-struck dumb when you try to get away from them. I think the more open accounts they can keep on the books, the better it looks for them. You know:"We are now 27,000,000 account holders strong." Only they know that a certain percentage of those accounts are actually active. In your case, the manager was probably trying to figure out one desperate, last ditch method to pick your pocket. If he could have talked you into leaving your account open just a few more hours, they would have had an opportunity to tack on some bogus fees and you would have had less money. The tellers were probably just amazed that their Fearless Leader actually let you get out of there with ALL your money, thus the staring! They were mad, maybe; "shoot, there goes the Christmas Bonus. That guy just got out of here with ALL his money!" Or maybe they were in shock. You may be the only person in the history of the world to get out of Bank of America with all your money. But, they are making up for it now, aren't they? You are right: they are creepy. If Bank of America were the only bank left to use, I would be burying my money in fruit jars under the apple tree. "Higher standards" my butt; "Higher Fees" should be their motto! I am truly amazed that it has been such a long time since anybody posted on this sorry excuse for a bank! Good luck to you and let us know how you come out with this.
