Barrett Street Auction Center / Tom Giroux and Sandra Giroux promised sale of all saleable items removed in cleanout - did not give itemized list as promised Virginia Beach Virginia
My wife had passed away and I was forced to sell our house. I was told they would clean out the house and sell all saleable items and dispose of the rest. they did clean out the house (for an agreed upon fee). I trusted Tom and his wife Sandra to itemize the saleable items that they took from the house and they did not. I was very distraught since the loss of my wife and trusted them to take care of my posessions. I feel that that they did not really care about me and my plight and that they either did not sell the best items at the best price. but rather either sold some things and paid me a small percentage or just ripped me off and sold many things and did not account for them. After I moved away I called and asked Sandra for copies of the invoices of the sold items, as I had misplaced or lost the invoices in my move. I was told (not promised) that she would look into it. 3 months later I have not received any of the requested paperwork. They seem to be just very good at ripping people off, when the customer is the most vulnerable and can't watch their every move. I trusted them to act in my behalf and they did not. My advice to anyone in a similar situation - DO NOT trust these people! they are good at what they do - sure, they will clean out your house (for a fee), but they will take advantage of you if you are vulnerable. And then they will ignore you when you request an accounting of their transactions.
