The following situation occurred in June of 2009. Our family vacation was subsequently ruined because Ms. Francoeur would not return a number of emergency phone calls even though she was fully aware of the situation, she did nothing to rectify it putting my children in grave danger knowing that criminals who had been terrorizing her condo and the neighboring condo's had the only keys available to the property where we were forced to sleep at night and return to after being out. After the fact, Ms. Francoeur would tell me that I could have stayed elsewhere, but how was I to know this when she would not call me back? I am a single mother, I paid Ms. Francoeur $1,200.00 for her luxury condo with "all the amenities you could possibly imagine" That was my entire savings that I budgeted for our family vacation. I had no choice but to stay in fear for 7 days. Here is what happened:

The previous tenants tore the place up, took the only keys to the home, broke doors & stole bath towels, blankets, linens, kitchen towels, beach towels, DVD's, Music, Fishing gear even batteries for the TV remotes! They broke closet doors & their pet left stains all over every rug in the home. All the dishes were dirty & had to be scrubbed with supplies I had to purchase not even knowing if I would be reimbursed. The housekeepers cleaned up as well as could be expected, however we were left with none of the amenities we had been promised & worse we had no keys to the condo & known criminals had the knowledge we could not lock the door when we left. I placed several calls to the owner who refused to call me back. Bea showed up in her bathing suit 6 days later (Thursday night at 8:00 PM), unannounced without having once spoken to me about any of this to bring keys (not new locks, just new keys), bedding, bath towels & nic-nax; she explained that when I got home I should send her my receipts (apparently not having the time to be bothered with reimbursing me then & there, she had a beach to get back to).

I sent her all the receipts for the items I had in writing would be provided as part of the weekly rental fees, as Bea put it, "You will need nothing but your personal items and food, everything else you could possibly need will be provided!. When I sent Bea the receipts for toilet paper and plastic forks as well as beach towels and batteries, I asked if she agreed that I should be compensated for my time & trouble as I felt like I paid to stay at the Ritz & ended up at the Day's Inn. She sent me $50.00 plus my deposit and reimbursements of $127.00.

Two weeks after she sent the check to me I started receiving outrageous emails about how I ripped her off and she was going to report me to the police because I did not go shopping to buy her a hair dryer and a new cork screw for her wine bar. Mind you, I did not steal these items from her and she knows it, but apparently the $50.00 for my time and trouble should have been better utilized to replace her stolen items so she would not have to be bothered. She claimed I stole from her by having her pay for food, which we did not, and paper products, which we did because there was nothing else to eat off of until things had been cleaned. The woman harassed me for 5 days through email, calling me every name in the book and insisting that I owed her money. I had to put a hold on my credit card just to be sure she would not attempt to charge me back. Crazy!

Not to mention that the condo was not everything I thought it would be, the pictures on line are deceiving because you can't see the pier or anything else except the distant ocean from anywhere in the place, she must have stood on the roof to get the shot she has. You have to haul your garbage out to the dumpsters yourself & your kids will be constantly reminded that the pool is not really for fun as much as sun bathing & cooling off by the building management. The stove did not work right, the satellite cable does not always come in clear, & there is nowhere for a family of 4 to sit down & eat a meal together.

Anything could have happened to my family on this trip. We are so luck that the Cocoa Beach News did not have the following report: "Single Mother and her 3 children brutally murdered in Cocoa Beach Vacation Rental, stay tuned to see how the killers got in".
