I contacted Pen Fed Cr Union to take part in their car buiying service which offered a .99% loan.  After filling out their form, I was contacted by Justin Seureau at Beck and Masten GMC in Houston TX.  Here is his offer:

MSRP $44,420

My price $39,395

At first he did not provide the window sticker.  After a few emails, I got it.  The truck had a $795 radio that I did not want, but the rest of the options were okay.  His answer was:

"I really don't think we will miss your business over $795.

And this:

The price I gave you I am authorized to price it at.

By my arithmatic that reduced the price to $38,600.  I then had to work hard to get an agreemnt and here is what I got:

Sounds good to me!  I will honor this price, as long as you sign before Friday at noon.

Along with the above statement, he also included a price of $38,648 and said it included my GM Card points of $1,500 which made the price $37,148 and not the price I was agreeing to of $38,600.

After I pointed out his less than honest math, he claimed he talked to the manager and they apparently decided to stiff me even more and they raised the price to $39,898.

In my opinion, this dealership reeks of dishonest dealing.  Maybe they try their feeble attempt at bate and switch on all customers.  They should be investigated by the authorities and General Motors too.

I DIDN'T MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR.  ALL MY PRICE NUMBERS WERE BEFORE DEDUCTING GM CARD EARNINGS WHICH IS WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO DO.  THUS THEIR ORIGINAL PRICE OF 39,395 LESS THE 795 RADIO = 38,600 LESS MY GM CARD EARNINGS OF AROUND 2,208 = 36392.  THEY TRIED TO CONFUSE THE DEAL BY DEDUCTING ONLY 1500 OF MY EARNIGS AND OFFER THE DEAL AT 38648 WHICH IS 2256 HIGHER.  TRYING TO CONFUSE THE DEAL BY MIXING GM CARD EARNINGS IS NOT THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK.  WHATEVER THE EARNINGS ARE THE DEALER JUST GETS A CHECK OF THAT MONEY ANYWAY.  ANYWAY I CANCELLED MY GM CARD BECAUSE IT IS WORTHLESS IF CONSUMERS CAN'T FIND AN HONEST DEALER TO WORK WITH.

You said "made the price $37,148 and not the price I was agreeing to of $38,600." So you wanted the higher price? Or are you just quabbling over $48 ($38,600- $1,500=$37,100, $37,148-$37,100=$48)?
