Joined BeFrugal.com because they were the only company that offered any sort of reward for two businesses I needed to deal with.  BeFrugal offered cash back rewards for Appliancesconnection.com and FauxPanels.com  In the midst of a home rennovation, so I was spending a lot of money and wated something back for it.  

I placed an order with both of these companies, about $900 at one and about $3000 at the other, both were placed within days of each other, both at the beginning of February.  No cash back was received.  Finally after a month, I made an inquiry.  I was told to submit copies of email confirmations from businesses, totals, and information.  Did it, and was told they would investigate.  Another month goes by and no cash back.  Contacted them again, they said they were still investigating, but I probably did something wrong and didn't use their link.  That was wrong, I did use their link, and told them so.  They said they would continue to investigate.

After 3 months, I email again.  I get a response that says the $3000 purchase would not be credited to me because the retailer said I used another link, and since Befrugal won't make any money, they can't give me cash back.  There was no other link, I went directly through BeFrugal.  

Next, I go online to view my account again.  it says the $3000 purchase is void.  But, it says the $900 purchase is confirmed and I will get $28 cash back.  I click the link that says ask for payment.  It says I can't have payment until I update my account information.  I confirm address and update.  I ask for payment again, then it says I can't have payment until I reach a balance of $25, and I have $0 to go.  I request it again, it says I haven't asked for payment.  I request it again, it says the $28 I'm requesting isn't confirmed.

So, after using their links, and waiting three months, nothing was received.  I looked on their site and saw other customer comments, all saying nothing was received.  SCAM.

This rebuttal is regarding the previous reveiw of the BeFrugal.com website.

BeFrugal.com is a cash back website that has been around since 2010. We are a BBB acredited business with an A rating, and currently have over 2 million active, satisfied members earning cash back on their eligible purchases.

Cash back is based on commission. Stores like Faux Panels pay BeFrugal a pre-determined commission for directing new sales to their website. In turn, BeFrugal shares this commission with our members in the form of cash back. When a member clicked through a BeFrugal cash back eligible link, a cookie is set on their computer. This cookie is what allows the online retailer to trace that particular purchse back to BeFrugal. So long as a member is careful to follow proper cash back procedure, which is described in detail in both our FAQ section and in our Terms and conditions section, earned cash back will appear in memebr accounts automatically shortly after completing the purchase.

In this persons case, Faux Panels did not report any cash back earnings to BeFrugal.com. The member notified us and BeFrugal submitted an investigation inquiry on their behalf with the Faux Panel company regarding the cash back discrepancy. Due to the cookie tracking, participating online companies can see the source of incomming sales. If BeFrugal did not receive commission in error, and Faux Panels can confirm BeFrugal was the source of the sale, then they would credit us the missing cash back and the member would receive their cash back earnings.

Unfortunately in this case the retailer denied BeFrugal's inquiry. Their specific reason given for the denial was that the sale was "Credited to Another Publisher." This means that a source other than BeFrugal received credit (and most likely payment) for the sale. As Faux Panel did not track the sale to BeFrugal, they would not pay us commission on the purchase. Unlike most cash back websites BeFrugal pays 100% of the earned commission back to our members, this is why we can offer such high rates. Since we were not receiving any payment on this purchase, unfortunately no cash back could be issued. This is explained in our terms and conditions section, which all members should read and agree to before signing up for our services. We are in no way witholding earnings from this person, as we never received any earnings for this sale.

There are many reasons as to why this members sale may not have tracked to BeFrugal.com. If proper cash back procedure was not followed, its very possible that the cookie tracking did not work. Its very important that you stay within the redirect window after clicking through BeFrugal.com. Takings too log to complete the sale may cause cookies to  time out. If you click outside the redirect, on other websites, go into your email, click on ads, etc., this may all override the cookie and cause the sale not to track. Also, applying ineligible coupon codes (coupons not posted on BeFrugal), or applying an ineligible payment method (such as gift card or rewards points), may also void cash back credit. Additionally, having any shopping-related toolbars (other cash back websites, shoprunner, coupon websites) active would also intervene with the cookie set by the BeFrugal link. 

It’s also possible that either your computer settings or certain installed software interfered with the tracking process. One of the main issues customers encounter is ad-blocking software that will stop cookies from being stored normally.  If you are running any ad-blocking software on your computer, this may interfere.

So long as you are careful to follow proper cash back procedure you will receive all eligible cash back. Being mindful of proper cash back procedure while making purchases through BeFrugal ensures that you will not inadvertently lose cash back on a qualifying purchase. The other sale this person is referring to with the $28.02 cash back still has the "Pending Investigation" status. I checked and we never sent any kind of update indicating that this cash back credit was confirmed and eligible for payment. This being so, it would not have been possible for this member to request payment as he did not have the witdrawal minimum of $25 confirmed cash back in his account. Its possible that something was misread. Payment can only be requested when the status of a cash back credit is "confirmed" and you have at least $25 in confirmed cash back.
