A Bell South sales representative contacted me in March 2004 and used fraudulent means to convince me to switch to BellSouth Long Distance. The BellSouth sales representative intentionally provided misinformation about Bell South's Long Distance pricing on international long distance calls.

When I asked the Sales Representative about BellSouth rates to Panama, the representative quoted 32 cents. Since that was less than the 64 cents a minute I pay with my regular long distance provider, I accepted the offer. However, when I received my bill, I discovered that the sales representative had lied to me about the price. BellSouth charged me over three dollars a minute. For a call that would normally cost me $50.56, BellSouth is charging me $239.20.

Given the nature of this problem, I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. And I'll definitely tell other people about my negative experience so they can avoid it in the future. I will also retain the recording I made of the sales representative quoting the erroneous price as evidence of the fraud.

I contacted BellSouth and they promised to credit back the excessive charges on my bill that resulted from their sales representatives misinformation. However, when I got my next bill I found that BellSouth not only lied to me again, but they also added additional charges totalling $865.00. My advice to anyone who receives a call from BellSouth offering Long Distance service, do not trust them for a minute.

Not Fraud- Just Incompetence

This isn't fraud, just an incompetent employee. I literally need to put a check in a box, if a customer plans to make international calls to assure they get the correct rates.. There is ZERO incentive not to do this, as I get sales credit for the plan.. not the $$$ of your calls. Not only did this employee cause a problem on the bill, but they didn't get any credit for it either. This is an easy fix, you just need to call customer service and state you were supposed to have the "Global Solutions Plan" on your bill and you'd like the calls re-rated on the bill. Takes 5 minutes.
