More of same with Haldane. Had a first "interview" with "Senior Vice President" Mike Stone yesterday. Knew it was a scam going in, but thought I'd get some interview practice and have some fun. I can see how people who are unfamiliar with sales techniques can get sucked in--DON'T DO IT!!!! This outfit won't help you, only help themselves to your money. Usual personal questions, pressure for spouse to attend second meeting, etc. Questionnaires were obvious and skewed--yes, I'm dissatified, looking for direction--the only possible outcome possible with the content & type of questions listed. Not-so-slick behavior from Mr. Stone. His non-verbal cues were obvious, and his cuing and leading words and behavior laughably transparent. "Do you feel the connection?" I've done behavioral analysis, and this was unsophisticated. Troubling--repeated questions asked about sex, as in "Do you discuss sex with a female friend?". Comments about my acceptance/rejection of homosexuality. I purposefully answered questions in a manner that should have resulted in him having serious doubts about my employability, using body language that clearly indicated I was lying. Guess what? Second interview was scheduled anyway! If they're so good, why won't they provide details of costs, and references to satisfied customers? If they're so professional, why do they ask questions that are intimately personal, disrespectful, and would be actionable in any other work situation? Deb St. Marys, Ohio

I had a first meeting here in Appleton Wi. and was quite impressed with Caroline. No wierd questions about sex, nothing slick no pressure at all. All she did was to explain what they could do fo me in my search for a new career. How to better prepare myself for whats needed to get a new start. It is also quite clear that in the next meeting if they think they can help an ex-catv guy find a new career at that time we'll talk about a fee. I'm sure she appreciated the fact that despite being laid off from my proffesion I do have a college degree and am not an idiot. We'll see what happens at the next meeting, but rest assured, there will be no money exchanged, if they cannot give me at least a week to consider then so long. At least thanks to the rather similiar complaints from the ripoff report I'll be on my TIP toes to say the least. Thank you.

Steven Stomp, Client Services Representative for the Bernard Haldane office in Columbus, Ohio has agreed to settle my dispute. They have agreed to refund me $2560 and both parties agree to cancel the existing contract. Once I receive the refund the matter will be officially closed. Regards,

If you are the unfortunate who have already paid Bernard Haldane beware of the 800 client service number. In your contract there is an 800 number to complain if you have a problem. The thing is this is part of the scam. Someone will tell you that they will get your file from your city and then a dispute resolution specialist will be appointed to your case. Someone should call you back in a week. Like most people you will be real happy, unfortunately this is just another part of the nightmare. First of all the dispute resolution specialist is just another partner in another city. They are all in it together. His/Her goal is to: I. Give you the run a round. Delay any serious discussion as long as possible. The longer they keep you on contract, the greater the chance they can keep your money. II. Intimitate you. Tell you that you have a contract and that you owe them money. Well guess what? The minute they started their sales pitch they broke the contract. Salesmen are not allowed to lie to you, regardless of what contract you sign. III. Make you feel bad that your counselor needs to get paid. He/She has done so much work for you, etc. Well don't feel for your counselor, they are all in it together. My advise if you need to call the 800 client service number, do this instead: 1. Terminate the contract with them in writing as soon as you get done reading this. (E-mail is fine.) Don't do it by phone. 2. File with the Attorney General's Office and Better Business Bureau. When I called the Attorney's Generals Office they were very nice. I was originally just calling for information, instead they encouraged me to file. Another thing the more people file against them, the better. Even if you don't think you have a strong case. Good Luck! We're all in this together.
