My laptop was running really, really slow. When I took it in the "Geek" said it was probably just clogged with spyware, etc. I had the latest version of Norton installed, but he said that didn't matter. He wanted to reformat my hard drive. I said NO! I could do that myself. I just wanted it to speed up.

I was called two days later to come pick it up because it was fixed. Got there and he turned it on to show me how much faster it ran. Guess what?! It was slow as ever. He claimed he used some kind of program to clean up all the spyware and "it was running really fast in the back."

Got a call two days later and said it was fixed. Turned it on and sure 'nuff it ran like new. It wasn't until I got it home that I realized EVERYTHING had been wiped off it. All my pictures are gone! All my stories (I freelance)! I'm sick. I can't even load a printer because the spooler is gone.

I probably know more about computers than the guy that worked on mine.

It states in their own handbook that they have to notify you before whiping or doing anything that may whipe your hard drive. Page 31.

I have been to computer service centers and they all have disclosures on the sheets saying if we lose your data it isn't out fault, i would bet the company has that same disclosure. You should probably read the things you sign before you sign them.
