Hi Everybody,

On sunday June 2,2002 my girlfriend bought a CD burner ar Best Buy... It was an LG-8320B, or so the box showed. When I got home and went to install the burner I found that it wasn't even the burner we wanted in the box. It was an optorite CW3201, a burner Best buy doesn't even carry, a burner worth half the one we bought, and worst of all it wouldn't work anyway, it was defective, I felt ripped off twice.

The next day we went back to best buy and it got worse... They now claim that they can't take the CD-burner back because they don't sell that optorite brand and that it was a used burner I was trying to scam them with. As calm as I tried to be I was close to blowing. We bought that drive the day before in that store and now I'm being told I'm trying to rip them off.

The customer service person tells me I have to contact LG(Lucky Goldstar) who manufactures the real LG-8320b drive we wanted and they would be responsible to replace it, he said they sometimes "substitute" a different drive, I said" a major company puts a cheap generic drive with worse performance and numbers and someone elses company name on the drive, a drive that doesn't match the ID on the box.

They'll tell me what I already know, it wasn't them, by the way later on I confirmed this by calling LG and they told me no way, the drive on the box LG-8320b is all they make and it will always be that exact drive, they don't know what the optrite drive was doing in there being sold as their drive I was just getting so much BS from the Best Buy customer service guy and he acted like I was wrong, and a thief, the only thief is Best Buy that I couldn't take any more.

I called over a manager and things calmed down a little, But he stated giving me the same crap the customer sevice guy gave me, Until I said "ENOUGH OF THIS CRAP, I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL I GET THE RIGHT DRIVE OR A REFUND... he actually opened a new one off the shelf, which customer service refused to do and found it was the same optorite drive in the new box...

Now thats no mistake... it was more that 1 mixup ... someones ripping people off selling a $50 drive for $100, and I'm getting treated like the criminal, being told I'm trying to pass off my old drive as a new one, all I did is try to buy a CD-rewriteable and look at all the crap I went through...

A word of warning though, In the end I lucked out because the drive was defective, I almost got stuck with $100 piece of dead junk.....And if there wasn't another drive to compare it too to prove me right I would have been screwed. The attitude there was definately "the customer doesn't matter, we are looked down on,they are judge, jury , and executioner !!"

Who the hell are they to theorize what happened and take actions based on what they "think" I did. They were totally wrong, and even though I got a refund I will never enter a Best Buy again.

Never mind when the fact 2 months ago I bought the PC game Alice at Best Buy and when I opened it at home I found there was an empty Billy Joel CD case and newspaper stapled together to look like a manual in the box..NO GAME, NO MANUAL... went back to the store they argued they wouldn't exchange the game... again I was trying to rip THEM off !!!!

I'm sick of it, so this was the last straw for me... I was the one ripped off and I get treated like that... I'd like to see how they would feel if they went to a store and that was done to them, and all you get told is, too bad... we can't help you... your money just went down the toilet.

I don't know about you but I work hard for my money and there's no way I'm letting anyone take it and giving me a different item that I don't want and telling me I'm "stuck " with it, if you but the item on the box it should be in the box, if it isn't there is no reason you can't get what you paid for!!!!!

Well keep this up Best Buy and the only thing that will go down the toilet will be your whole company, like all those other scamming, warranty pushing chains here in massachusetts, they were all gone for a while, until Best Buy started here, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, didn't prejudge them, but I was sure prejudged by them, another "sucker" customer-they don't care if you come back, if "they take" you just one time they already made a profit.

I'll just never forget the attitude I was given when all I wanted was the correct item I bought!!!!! Iam no thief, Iam honest, work hard for my money and paid for everything I have you don't know how insulting and infuriating it feels to be treated like some scamming scumbag when all you want is some simple business ethics and customer service.

disregard I can't win but I won't be shopping best buy in the future

I bought a computer from Best Buy Last year. with the c.d. burner I wanted to record my own c.d I was sold a sound card and mick headset which i did't need I bought a fostex mr-8 multitracker from another outlet and even had a friend download ntrack studio in my commputer to find errors in my harddrive went to local store to get system restore software that I was missing and planned to purchase 2-1 lineout cord to commputer and mike addapter to back of prosseser costomer service rep was no help at all with system restore software so I didn't want to wast anymore money if I couldn't get my problem solved best buy lost a sale there I would like to know if best buy really provides service after the sale so far I havn't seen it I am very disapointed with best buy right now.
