San Antonio,#2UPDATE Employee

First, the update here is obviously done by a disgruntled employee. I can tell you that we have fired people for lying to the customers in the way described above. Second, the service plans provided are not extended waranties at all. They cover the unit for 3 years from the date of purchase(in a computers case) for normal wear/tear, surge damage, hardware failures and even replaces it on the 4th hardware replacement needed. It usually covers more than the manufacturer waranty, but the big thing is that the customer does not have to sip it. The service plan would have covered the replacement of the power supply, and any other part. Third, best buy carries a 14 day return/exchange policy on computers. If you would have taken it to best buy, they could have just exchanged it for you. Finally, sometimes computers do come in from the manufacturer with defects as do all products electronic or not. It is possible it was accidently left out by a technician at the store but also just as likely at the factory.

I would not be surprised at all if Best Buy did something to your computer. Most of there business is built on deceiving customers. At Best Buy you are taught to say anything to a customer even flat out lying to people to sell the service plans. We were told tell people if you spill stuff on the product we will replace it. If you want a new Playstation just go ahead and scratch the lens and we will replace it. If you drop your cell phone we will replace it. People if you read the warranties it says very clearly does not cover spills or abuse. On many occasions Salesmen would tell people that we were out of the product if the customer didn't want the service plan. Best Buy's big thing is that we don't work on commision. That's because they are too cheap to pay there workers decent wages. The managers are definately on commision!!!! You wouldn't believe how much they get back from Service Plan Sales. Best Buy is the absolute worst place in the world to work. The environment is very hostile. You wouldn't believe the pressure the management puts on the salespeople. They even force their employees to attend monthly propanganda sessions aka "team meetings" where they employees come in at 7am on a Saturday and watch videos on how to lie to people. Then they wouldn't let anyone leave until everybody did the Best Buy cheer. T he worst person at Best Buy is Nicole Mendenhall who actually took away the requst off forms so nobody could ask for a day off. Best Buy sucks and I hope nobody shops there!! If you do tell them no on the service plans!!!
