So this is the story with the famous Best Buy in Ridgedale, Minnesota

I finally saved up some money to buy myself a 42 inch plasma Zenith monitor the price at the time was $3800.

I did my homework on plasmas and market on best deals and at the time best buy had an ok deal on that certain model.

Although I did find some better deals on the internet I wanted to see it first and ask some questions before I bought. This 20 year old girl was the sales person and she said straight up, "I have been working here for 2 years and I can answer ANY question"

Well I started asking my questions, such as, are plasmas

affected by higher altitutes, will the price go down, what kinda electric filters should I use, how many lines per screen in HDTV does it show, is it high or enhanced definition....

This girl literaly said, Am I Freakin Joking?!!?!? She never heard of this stuff and that shopping for plasmas at best buy is a very bad idea. Well this tv I really liked they did have an ok price on it but she knew sh*t about anything.

I talked to another 7 people, including the store manager and asked them all same questions.

They were ALL speachless. Oh and another simple question I asked is if it somes with the stand, which with most other ones is separate thing you have to buy and its about 4-5 hundred dollars (actual manufactured value is about 100 bucks,

you can tell from the time and craftmanship it took to manufacture, light brushed, pored aluminum covered on one side with polished aluminum, molded in back to attach to the monitor).

All 7 people swore that it does come with the stand.

Well i finaly decided to get the tv...but it would of course take 8-11 weeks to ship directly with them and they said buying from their website would be the best way to get it sooner.

2 weeks later I received my monitor but no stand of course. I called the customer service center and they confirmed it does not come with the stand and it costs extra.

So I plugged my new tv to a dvd player and left it on over night on purpose so it would have a burnt in image, next day I returned it to local best buy store and requested satisfation. Two days later, manager called me and offered a stand for free. they claimed the tv is brand new and the stand should be shipped with ups or fedex, cant remember which one.

The tv was the one I returned, cuz it had the burnt in image, so I told him its a used tv, called the corporate offices, told them the story and they gave me a 200 dollar gift card and replaced my monitor with new one. 9 (nine) months later I received my tv stand!

After that incident, I have never seen that manager work at that store again, neither was the girl there that "helped' me and not to mention they told me that those tv's are something new and if I don't get my extended warranty I will waste 4000 bucks!!!

I shopped at that best buy 4 or 5 more times and every time, I received even worse customer service. I live really close by that best buy and one of the guys that works for geek squad and had nothing good to say about that store

This is about Best Buy in San Francisco. The last time I was there, which was about 3 weeks ago, I had to stand in line for a TV return for nearly 45 minutes. Why? Because only 2 out of the 100 dipshit employees running in the store were actually working behind the registers...So after a while, I complained and asked for a manager. Finally when a manager came, her response was that not everyone is trained to work the registers! So, instead what Best Buy has is 100 loser employees running around in their little blue aprons busy doing NOTHING. When it was finally my turn, it took FOUR employees to help solve the problem including the 2 register idiots, the so called manager, and one more loser that came out of some back door. Meanwhile 10 people were behind me in line. It was then that I decided that I am NEVER EVER going back to Best Buy again! Their stock is not that great, prices are just okay, and the employees (and EX employees) are totally incompetant.

This is all your own fault.

I worked at Best Buy Rockford, IL for 3 years. I haven't always had a great experience there but for the most part it is a great company. I eventually left there because i didn't like some of the policies they changed and how some of the employees treated some of the customers, but in this case my friend best buy wasn't at fault and i wouldn't have given you any additional money. First of all i pride myself in having great product knowledge and that is one reason I could keep my job there so long, but you can not expect some 20 something year old to know their stuff about brand new technology. Some of the questions you asked should only be answered by someone with an electrical engineering degree. These questions would easily be answered on the manufactures website or a tech web forum. The GM isnt required to know all the product knowlege, he's a manager not a prod specialist. You burned a image into the TV on purpose and bestbuy shouldn't have excepted your return of a mistreated product. And best buy is allowed to resell opened and returned items without and open item tag if they beleive it is in it's original condition. I do agree with you that you shouldn't have had such hassle with the tv stand but everything else boils down to the fact that you can't expect a brandnew technology (less then 2 years on the market) especially one in such demand and such a good price to be readily available for pick up or expect every employee to be completly trained on weither or not plasma gas will be affected by lower air pressure. - I have found that we can't point out the fact that people who work at best buy or best buy as a company is stupid or doesn't know what they are talking about when you can look all around you and find stupid people and stupid company. Why should we point fingers?
