Best Price movers came into my life via Moving Star moving brokers. I had to move from Miller, IN to Washington DC with three months of storage in between. This was summer of 2002.

But I have never forgotten Best Price. Before they got my stuff, they were very nice. They quoted me a fair price ($1200) to move and store my items. We selected a move date and they arrived. They were professional and my property was treated well. Within a few hours, my home was empty and I vowed that using a mover was a great idea.

They stored my items for the summer and when it was time to get the stuff moved to my new place in DC, the problems began. Suddenly, I was being disrepected on the phone repeatedly. The supervisor called me names, insulted me and treated me like a child. Puzzled, I called Moving Star and they said, "Deal with them, not us." I called Best Price and they told me that Moving Star had gone out of business (which was not true).

They were to arrive on July 15th to deliver. They did not. They demanded an extra $2000 to deliver, even though I had already paid the $1200 they quoted me. They said I had more stuff than they thought when they did the estimate and now I owed or they would not pay. I called BBB-- they said there was little they could do expect file a report and if I wanted my stuff back, I should pay and get it overwith. She informed me that the moving industry is largely unregulated and maverick. I sighed. All I wanted was my furniture back.

Because my grandmother had died, I had a $5k inheritance which I used to put a deposit on my new place and get settled in. I luckily had the $2k ready on the 16th. No show. On the 17th, they called and said, "Where are you? We're here to deliver." I said that they were supposed to have arrived two days ago. They insisted that we had agreed on the 17th. I went dead silent.

I said, "Do you know what day it is?" They were silent. I said, "Do you know what day it is!?" They said, "The 17th, just like we agreed." I said, "Today is my BIRTHDAY and no, we did not agree to today because I never would have agreed to today under any circumstances." I had to leave my birthday festivities and be there to let them in. I gave them the $2k without a word, told them to get out of my home, slammed the door in their faces and felt relieved it was all overwith.

I am so glad to post this because the anger I felt over my stolen inheritance and no recourse really took its toll. Thanks for letting me post this. That place should be firebombed.
