First I purchased an Asha (diamond simulant) supposed to have a patented diamond surface deposit making the cubic ziconia as  hard as a diamond and then I purchased what was supposed to be a synthetic sapphire which means it has the exact molecular composition and hardness as a natural sapphire. within a few months both stones started rounding off on the top of the stones where the flat part of the stone joined the edges.

I have pictures of the sapphire which actually display wear all around the top of the stone. I have 3 watches with synthetic sapphire crystals and none of them have any marks on the crystal whatsoever. I was told a a story of how sapphires scratch like anything else. I replaced the Asha stone with a beautiful synthetic Moissanite, rare earth element with more reflective fire than a diamond.

The better than diamond response was denial and when I tried to post a negative comment on their forums I was banned for trolling, and I'm not even sure what that means. I have been actively online and a member in good standing on a number of forums. The immediate ban took me by surprise and left me with no way to communicate my disatisfaction.

I am filing this report because I don't believe that Better than Diamond has justified any of its advertising in any way. I do not believe their Asha, diamond simulant has any relative value when compared to any synthetic or natural gem. When the appearance of the stone is worn and seemingly damaged almost immediately i feel as though I have been sold something that I was not expecting. The supposed lab grown sapphire looks horrible with rounding and obviously damaged or chipped around the entire top of the stone. The fact that I was able to take a photo of its poor quality is even more remarkable. I will be happy to send photos to Ripoff Report for them to examine.

Rebuttal to Keith's Complaint about Better Than Diamond

Keith, I know about your reputation on the BTD Message Boards.  You have a right to complain, however, you just don't know when to stop, therefore, you were probably accused of being a troll.  I have several Asha diamond simulant rings from BTD that I bought in 2004.  They are Version 5 and I haven't had any trouble with them.  They still sparkle and they don't look scratched or edges are smoothed over.  I think perhaps you were either particularly hard on these stones by subjecting them to conditions rings with stones are usually subjected to because I can't figure out how you can say the stones are so bad unless you subjected them to sanding machines applied directly to the stones.  My stones are going on nine years old and they still look fine, and there are people out there that have them longer than I have and even earlier versions and they all say their stones look fine.  I think you are just a trouble making person who just doesn't have enough things to keep yourself occupied.  I can understand if your complaint was legitmate, but it isn't.  I don't work for BTD, but I find them to be a very reputable company and even though I haven't done business with them since 2004, I find their work excellent, their customer service excellent and I plan on buying more rings in the future.  I would rather do business with BTD than any other company who sells simulated stones any place on the internet or in a bricks and mortar store.  And speaking of Moissanite, I would rather have an Asha than a Moissanite because then I don't have to worry about what lighting I'm in, whether the sun is out or if it is cloudy outside, and worrying about getting a stone that has a visible green or yellow tinge to it.
