I placed an order for a tripod and an additional mounting plate so that i didnt have to keep swapping them out. At first I thought B&H was an easy buy. Shipping was slow, and it took a while to get the tripod to me. When it arrived, it was packed like crap. Barely any protection to the 70$ tripod and the mounting plate had just been thrown in there.

The tripod came in decent condition. the mounting plate had been compressed as if it were a store demo and had a camera sitting on top of it and the bag had dirt on it, but I let it go. What pissed me off was that the mounting plate didnt fit the tripod even though it was listed under the "accessories page" of the tripod on the website.

Upon closer inspection I found that they gave me the wrong tripod completely. I called them up immediately and complained and no one would listen to me. They bounced me to about 16 people before I started telling them not to bounce me and to deal with my issue themselves. The person on the line setup a refund, but informed me that the real item was backordered (which was probably why I got the wrong item, it was the last in stock). They sent me to sales, who tried to sell me a 100$ tripod that had a worse rating and no additional features that I wanted, but they tried to get the commission for a larger sale. I ended up ordering the backordered tripod and waited about a week for it to get in stock.

After waiting longer, the new tripod came, and go figure, same incorrect tripod as the first time. I called them up wanting to return the tripod and they again tried to sell me a more expensive one. I returned the tripod and started looking elsewhere for the same model and I found it at another store for cheaper (who offered cashback and a 5$ discount for using googlecheckout). I decided to hold off on the mounting plate return beacsue I might still want that.

Anyways, after some time I decided I wanted to sever all ties to B&H and return the mounting plate. They made a huge deal about it even though it was their mistake not mine, but they said that It was past the return time and that they would not pay for shipping on a cheap item like that.

This is unacceptable customer relations. your customer support sucks. your company sucks. Dot your i's and cross your t's. I dont see how you can screw up the same thing twice in a row and then try to capitalize on your mistake by trying to upsell the customer to a more expensive tripod and blame them for not returning the accessory that should have worked in the first place.

Nothing you say can explain this mistake. your company screwed up, not once, but twice for the same person. and on top of that it seems like every other ripoff report says the same thing. Your company thrives on selling products that dont come correctly and try to capitalize on convincing the customers to keep the wrong product or to buy more expensive accessories and products from you. I wish I had gone to ripoff report before ordering, but at least I am going to get a full refund, and if I don't, you have much more to worry about than one complaint on ripoff report. So, Henry, dont even bother trying to respond as to why B&H did nothing wrong. you screwed up. face it.
