I ordered a Sony Sirius receiver from B&H Photo a month ago. My card was charged immediately. Two weeks later I was told the item was 'special ordered' and would take up to 4 weeks. I checked a few other vendors, and found that the product is not available, and never HAS been available.

Company policy is that they refuse to refund special orders, so now I have no product, my money has been taken, and the item I ordered my never be released to the public.

B&H Photo are an example of what you get for trying to cut corners. Under NO circumstances buy anything from this comapny.

I have purchased photographic equipment for many years from B&H. My most recent purchase was an external hard drive for my PC. I have never had a problem with this company. I have even, on a couple of occassions, called and changed my order with no hassle whatsoever.

I registered here just to add my voice to the posters who say they have had good experiences buying from B&H.

I have bought a Canon 20d, 70-200 lenses (F4 and F2.8 later), Tamron 28-75, bag, etc and on the two occasions the transactions were very smooth. Im in Rep of Ireland and getting my credit card cleared for use needed me to photocopy both sides but apart from that all went quickly and smoothly, Henry quickly replied to my emails regarding delivery times etc. 

One purchase was collected in the B&H New York store by a relative, one was posted to my uncle in Arizona, no issues and B&H are where I always point others who ask me about buying in US, no one I have sent there has ever complained.

There are a lot of scammers out there but B&H are not one of them

I recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel XSi digital camera and a Canon Vixia HG21 camcorder from B&H.  The salesman was extremely helpful, and even called me back after the order to let me know of some available Canon rebates.  The service was excellent.

I have purchased from B&H in the past, and my experience has always been very good.  However, I have never placed Special Orders.

I have used a number of online A/V dealers. My experience with B&H was very positive. When one of their employees called to verify my order, I got very worried. Most times these calls are high-pressure sales pitches for extended warranties and over-priced accessories (and if you don't bite, the product you ordered becomes suddenly out-of-stock forever). With B&H however, as soon as I acknowledged placing the order, the employee thanked me and told me that the order was being filled. Three days later the product was in my hands.

B&H regrets John's dissatisfaction. The product he ordered is listed on our website with this notice: "mportant Notice! This is not a regular stocked item and cannot be canceled, returned or exchanged." The same notice was there when he ordered. At the time he ordered there was also a notice about the product's availability. Then it was not in stock. Now it is. We're sorry John was impatient but we're pleased to report that John received a full refund and the Sirius Satellite Radio Tuner for Sony Receiver he wanted is readily available from B&H at this time.
