$2,000.00/month

base pay. Big Sky Distributing seeking responsible individuals to start

work immediately due to company growth and factory outlet expansion.

Corporate training provided. Must be friendly and good with people.

Customer Service background a plus. Call 406-388-6500. Okay, I admit, I knew it sounded too good to be true but I have a extensive customer service background and with a $2000.00/month base pay what could go wrong?  This is what: I live in Bozeman and the company was in Belgrade.  No big deal for a good job though.  For the pay I figured I could afford the gas.  I called and was told they were doing interviews that day.  How lucky is that?  I was in there office within 2 hours.  I filled out a pretty ghetto looking application and turned in my resume, but continued on.  In the interview I was asked some very basic questions and told that with my experience I should consider their manager program in the future bumping my base pay to $2800  or more.  Then I was asked if I heard of Kirby and I said there was some name recognition for vacuums.  The interviewer then explained about complicated mergers ect. that allowed for company growth with various companies like Kirby. So far so good.  Then the interview was over. That was it.  Hmmm.  A little hinky.  I was told I would be called in a few hours while my references were checked and the main boss was consulted.  So I did a brief check online.  Nothing on ripoff report.  Good.  One unresolved complaint with the BBB.  Okay doable for a company that's been around since 2006.  Then I got a call to start work at 12pm the next day.  Wow. Great news in a bad economy and I really needed a job. I've just done my 4-5 hours of "training."  The job is door-to-door Kirby vacuum sales.  I was told it was my first day and was getting paid as per the sign up sheet.  No W-2 , No ID needed.  Hmmm.  Looking more hinky.  To make it short,  I listened to transparent lies and misleading statements for 4 hours, asked many questions and was told it would be explained later.  Things like: Are we cold calling customers, what are the safety factors considering this line of work is considered the most dangerous in America (suprisingly, but google it), Will we make our base pay no matter what or is it commission.  I was blown off with the other 10 people there, at one point calling my questions ridiculous. Here's the Facts:  It is just like every other Kirby distributor.  A team of 5-7 people go door to door trying to sell Kirbys.  To get paid the $2000 in a month you must get 60 people to let you in to their home to do a full demo taking anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours in that 30 days.  Incomplete demos do not count.  Training is not paid but the 30 day countdown starts the first day of training.  You are not selling during training.  You are given a list to turn in of 10 friends and family to "practice on."  You get zero dollars if you don't make sixty demos.  You can make more if your commission on sold units is more than $2000.  You are independent therefore self-employed.  No taxes out, No benefits, No rights as an employee, ect.  You can recruit "buddys" and in the classic pyramid scheme fashion, get a cut of their sales.  And on and on.  But remember you get nothing no matter what until you have secured 60 appointments in a month by showing up at peoples doors and completing the 1.5-3 hour sales pitch.  Just google Kirby and you can find out so much more. None of this was revealed, there were many misleading statements, even outright lies, and questions were blown off and ridiculed.  There is no base pay.  Just a product like so many other scams that if you are unwilling or unable to in turn scam others then you get paid nothing for a month of work.  Remember you are self employed.  So messed up.  Why is this type of thing not illegal? Oh well, live and learn.  I guess I only lost some gas and day of job hunting.  I just hope I can save the trouble for someone else who's looking for a job in the chronicle.  this is a good one to skip.  And to Big Sky Distributing:  Shame on You.

How to get paid the money you are owed by Kirby

If you want to get paid the money that is owed to you, this is how you do it. Contact your state's department of labor, and your State Attorney General. Inform them of Kirby's sales practices, and the fact that Kirby violates many labor laws. They claim that you are independent contractor, yet the way they treat you, and their requirements of you, define you as an actual employee, by state labor definitions. Several people in New York went about it this way, and were able to get the
money owed to them, and the Kirby offices were fined or shut down. For some reason, Kirby thinks it is ok to violate labor laws, and treat people like dirt and dollar signs. I'm sure that one of the Kirby people will respond to this, claiming that I'm lying, but all you have to do is talk to the Dept. of Labor, or a lawyer, and they'll confirm everything I said.

OK,  THE BAD REPORTS?  100% TRUE, AND THE GLOWING REPORTS?  PLEASE, MADE BY SOME ONE ON THE INSIDE. THE COST OF THE PRODUCT IS AROUND $385. WITH THE RETAIL AROUND $2400 AND THE AVERAGE NEW GUY ALLOWED TO KEEP ANYTHING OVER 12 TO 15 HUNDRED. BUT THE AVERAGE SELLING PRICE AFTER FEES, DEALS AND BAD CREDIT CHARGES IS AROUND $1150.  THE NEW GUY WILL MAKE ON AVERAGE OF 0 TO $50 ON A SALE, AND A NEW PERSON NATIONWIDE WILL AVERAGE FOUR SALES A MONTH. AND THAT 'S FULL TIME 65 TO 80 HOURS A WEEK.  TYPICALLY ON A VAN GOING DOOR TO DOOR DRIVEN BY GOD KNOWS WHO...DRUGS, LICENSE, INSURANCE,  ALL SUSPECT.  THE AVERAGE OFFICE WILL HIRE 8 TO 12 RUBES A WEEK AND ON FRIDAY HAVE THEM SIGN A STACK OF DOCUMENTS OR THEY WILL BE DISMISSED AND WITH 25 TO 30 HOURS INVESTED MOST PEOPLE WILL SIGN.  AGAIN IT TAKE'S A HARVARD LAW DEGREE TO DECIPHER ALL THE MUMBO-JUMBO BUT YOU HAVE RELINQUISHED ALL YOUR RIGHTS. YOU ARE A 1099 WORKER. NOW THEY WILL SICK  YOU ON FRIENDS AND FAMILY ON YOUR FIRST WEEKEND BECAUSE ONE OUT OF EIGHT WILL MAKE A PITY PURCHASE, IT'S THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE SEEN YOU TRYING TOO CLEAN UP IN MOST CASE'S. DO THE MATH, NOT BAD IF YOUR ON TOP WORTH A FEW BLOG'S I SAY.  SEVERAL KIRBY OFFICES ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION OF VIOLATING THE RICO ACT.  HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT TO A POTENTIAL NEW COSTUMER. IN MY EXPERIENCE IT DON'T MATTER WHO IT IS ANYMORE,  IF THEY DON'T DRUG TEST, BACKGROUND CHECK, AND TELL IT ALL UP FRONT YOUR RIGHT BACK ON THE PLANTATION...GOOD LUCK!

O.K. for the most part you are right. I had responded to the same add. Saying the same things you mentioned. There is a 3 day training course in which I was payed for. But you obviously didn't continue on with the training long enough to get paid. Of corse your questions were blown off. Why would a legitimate company thats trying to train new employee's waist time trying to deffend itself with someone thats not willing to learn?

There isn't any cold calling unless you want to do so yourself. Kirby is a door to door sales gig. That pays well. You are RIGHT about the 60 demos. If you do not do 60 full demos and you don't sell anything, you don't get paid. HOWEVER; If you do 60 full demos and you don't sell anything you will get the $2000. But if that is the case than you aren't doing your job. The Kirby sells itself. 1 in 4 buy if done right. You should be making $2000 a week!!! And getting $2000 in a week, you won't have to worry about doing 60 full demos. I never kept track of my demos. Didn't need to. I made too much money to care.

The only reason I left is because I moved back home where I couldn't find a Kirby dealership. You can look up Kirby all over the web and find bad reviews from people like you who don't take the time to learn more, or even try it out. And from mad customers thinking they were ripped off because they found out later the could have saved some money. It's a commision based job! You have to work for your money and you want to make as much as possible. Anyone with an open mind that loves meeting new people, traveling, and making alot of $$$... This is a great job.

This guy didn't even give Kirby a chance. I worked for Big Sky Distributing for 8 months. I made friends with the whole crew. Very likable people. I earned a free trip to Disney World, and because I made so much money I also went to Sea World, and Orlando studeo. Kirby payed for an Extremly nice resort, and the trip there and back.

The owner of Big Sky Distributing wanted me to start up my own distribution center. He wanted me to succeed, to be as well off as he and his predecessors. I didn't have the time as I said earlier, I had to move back home. If I had nothing going on for myself here, I would go back to Montana and start the Kirby gig all over again because I know I can be successfull.     [email protected]

Big Sky Distributing-Not just a scam but a global ripoff

#5Author of original report

One, as a Purple-Heart Infantry War Veteran your repetitious slander about me being able to hack driving around with convicts to sell vacuums is offensive and is good indication of the quality of the company.  If that company is legit, then why not let people know that it is unpaid training before the end of the first day?  Why not be upfront in the interview that it is vacumm cleaner sales, not 4 hours into training.  Now, I'm not sure if you are reading off the company line, I remember the misleading ones about Warren Buffett, but your artistic portrayal of the truth sounds familiar, you know like when someone who said the same things you attempted to train me.  Any person who can Google will find out about the Global Kirby Scam.  You ever notice how scam artists try to quickly shift the blame and attack someone else when they are caught.  Let's count the attacks in that one paragraph.
1-NOT for someone who is not willing to work HARD for their money. 2-You HAVE to be willing to work hard, get along with people, and stick with something for more than a MINUTE!! 3-You obviously were not willing to follow the simple steps to SUCCESS!! But we do have to weed out the few that can't hack it!! 4-I feel sorry for you, but don't ruin a good job opportunity for someone that has what it takes. 5-SHAME ON YOU GOES TO YOU!! 6-You should have put that much energy into your job, maybe you would be making money now instead of feeling sorry for yourself!!
Wow.  Well, I make good money, my military experience lends to my work ethic and ability to "hack it."  On the other hand you are scamming people.  Congress is even investigating your underhanded tax dodges.  It is well documented and a Google search for Kirby away.  So, go cash your pretend paycheck, unless you run the place then cash other people's paychecks and remember Karma.  Stay away from this company!

Big Sky Distributing - not just a GREAT job but a CAREER!!

#6UPDATE Employee

Sat, February 13, 2010

I hope this gets added, I was kicked out of a previous session. Anyway, the 2000.00 a month is true, the job is hard work but there is NO deceit with Big Sky Distributing. I have worked under 6 months, and I have moved into management and am making well over the 2800.00 that you were told about. The work in this company is NOT for someone who is not willing to work HARD for their money. The job is a wonderful job. I make so much money for just dealing with people. You HAVE to be willing to work hard, get along with people, and stick with something for more than a MINUTE!! You obviously were not willing to follow the simple steps to SUCCESS!! But we do have to weed out the few that can't hack it!! There is a reason Kirby has been around for 93 years. It is a great company that has weathered the depressions and is still going strong!! Not many companies have been around 93 years!! I love Kirby it is a awsome job opportunity!! I feel sorry for you, but don't ruin a good job opportunity for someone that has what it takes. Because BIG SKY DISTRIBUTING offers not just a job, but a CAREER!! They are great people to work for!!!!! So the   SHAME ON YOU GOES TO YOU!! Big Sky Distributing is awesome, and 100% legit! You have more time to complain than to work. You should have put that much energy into your job, maybe you would be making money now instead of feeling sorry for yourself!! I think I'll go cash my paycheck now - 1900.00 FOR ONE WEEK!! So sorry for you!!
