I applied for health insurance with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, (BACKUPS), I filled out application and sent it in with the first months premium check.  This was near the end of March, I received a letter, Dated April 3, stating that they were dining me any insurance with them due to having PTSD.

I asked about my check being sent back to me and it was at this time I was informed that they deposited  the check into their account.  I asked why, since they denied me and their answer was this is policy.  I thought ok no big deal its BCBSOK.  I was told that a check would be mailed to me in a couple of days.

I waited for five days or so and called them back and for some reason the check did not get mailed out until the 7th of April or so.  Again I waited about 5 days and again they told me that the request was lost and that the check would be mailed out that day.  In a couple of days I receive a letter stating that the check was inclosed and that was that. Well the check was not inclosed so I called and they seemed mystified that there was no check.  They told me they would void that check and another would be cut that day and I should receive it in 4-5 days. This person was supposable in charge of that department. 

I called on April 23, and was told that the check had been mailed out on the 28th. I knew she was lying because the lady I spoke with before said it would go out on the 17.  The lady I was talking to at this time admitted that they were lying to me and basically that is what they have been told to do to people who send checks for their first premium and get denied. I am only guessing that is how it works since that is how it worked with me.  I was very angry and basically told MIKE that he was going to over night my check and that I was going to call my attorney to come up with a plan.  The plan is, BCBSOK is suppose to call me before #:pm with tracking number.  If this does not happen then attorney will take over. 

I got the feeling that they enjoy jerking me around knowing that beyond me going to Naperville and finding these people, which I doubt that I do but it seemed like a good thought, I will never see my premium again.  BCBSOK who would have thought that they of all Insurance companies would be jerking me around.  I am guessing that I am not the only one that has had this issue, I have no evidence of this but I have evidence that it happened to me. Do not send 1st premium with application you could be denied and your premium will never come back to you. Good job BCBSOK you sent my PTSD through the roof and I almost did something I would have regretted.  JerkOff's!!!

I did receive reimbursement check and it cleared their account. Glad that is over. I just have a hard time understanding why this company would keep lying to a potential customer so many times. That just does not make any sense to me at all.  Over and done with and will never consider BCBS as my provider again.

As for the issue of the BCBS worker making the statement that they deposit all premium checks even if denied, this is BCBS policy.  She did say that I did catch them in a lie when one worker told me the check was mailed on Tuesday and she said it was mailed on friday. When I confronted her with this she admitted that she was not telling me the truth and that I caught her.

As for the check, FedEx has picked up envelope and it is in Aurora, IL. and on its way to my address. Will let you know if check is actually in envelope.  The thing that really upset me was the fact that one agent would tell me that it was mailed and when I called back in few days, another agent would tell me that it had not been mailed.  This is not how you run a business. Will update you on check tomorrow.

Report BCBSOK to your state's insurance commissioner

If you don't get your check immediately, report BCBS to your state's insurance commissioner. I can understand the fact they deposited your check. But the game playing for your refund needs to be dealt with right away. Good luck. Let us know what happens.

It is 9:36 am and Mike from BCBSOK just called and gave me the tracking number to an envelope that is suppose to have my check in it.  Will let you know more as the day progresses.

The lady I was talking to at this time admitted that they were lying to me and basically that is what they have been told to do to people who send checks for their first premium and get denied
- While I have doubts about this statement.  If you are telling the entire truth, you should immediately check your State laws on recording phone conversations to see if you need to get their permission before you record the phone call.  Then call them up and get them to admit this again.  Then go to your local TV news station and give them this story with your proof.
