While your advice may be sound in general, it is still possible for many consumers to be lured into signing with this alleged 'reputable' pool builder. We almost signed their '3 day' contract today. The salesman was very decent and easy to talk with. When we started to leave afterward, the GM came over and bombarded us with every reason why we should sign with them before leaving "to lock in the price". Now, I am damned glad we did NOT sign that paper. After all I've read here and elsewhere tonight, it will be a cold day in Hell before we use Blue Haven. Thank you everybody for all your reporting. We have read all your reports and have observed the common trends by this company which you have all experienced. We may pay a bit more now elsewhere, but it will be better spent with a more reputable company with much fewer, if any at all, complaints. Blue Haven has too many complaints of magnitude to ignore, in my opinion. Thanks again for your warnings !

I would like to respond to this complaint. First off Blue Haven Pools is a National Pool Builder and everything that is done is routed through the corporate office in San Diego, CA. All new swimming pools MUST have a permit pulled prior to any work being accomplished. Blue Haven is not a mom and pop pool company that can get away with building swimming pools without a permit. Second, it clearly states on the front of all contracts that a homeowner signs when they proceed with the purchase of a swimming pool that any checks given to Blue Haven must be made out to Blue Haven Pools and no one else. The same contract is used by all the Blue Haven Offices throughout the nation. Third, Blue Haven Pools has been in business since 1954, so my question is this; If Blue Haven is such a terrible company, how did they manage to stay in business for so many years? Also, Blue Haven will not accept full payment for the pool up front, as a matter fact a large portion of the work is completed prior to even recieving the first payment as Blue Haven does not require a down payment. The customer pays for the pool at certain phases of construction, and Blue Haven even provides a start up and orientation service to the homeowner after the last check has been collected. It is true, you should always do your homework when searching for a pool builder. A good rule of thumb to follow is to ask for the names of the last 5 pools built and call the customer and hear first hand from someone who has just had their pool built.
