 I recently started a Bluebird account by American Express. I had my paycheck direct deposited into the account. I had access to my money for two days and they locked my account. They wont give me any information in to what has come out of my paycheck orwhat is being debited. I have asked numerous agents for a statement. I have asked for any information in case I get a check and want to fight any charges and they cannot answer. I have only gotten " I am sorry sir I cant do anything". I have asked for supervisors and told no. I would tell anyone that this is a scam and do not allow them to handle your money. They wont issue  check. they wont answer questions. I understand in todays world privacy is important but I know whereI used the card all of the information for my work and still nothing.

DO NOT EVER TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR PAYCHECK THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU ANY INFORMATION AND WILL LEAVE YOU WITH NO FUNDS WAITING FOR A CHECK.

I'm reading all these horror stories but my experience was nothing short of wonderful.

I wrote a looooooong comment about how I love this card etc that would make you puke.

Anyway I'm just reading your experience and I can imagine what a bad spot you must have been in not having access to your entire paycheck!  

So what happened?  I'm sure you must have eventualy sorted it out.  What did they say?  Why did they lock you out?

I hope you're not still dealing with it.  You're so right about the whom you trust with your paycheck comment.

I recently had to give up my Nursing career and go on Disabilty. I was awarded the SSD right away and had to get a card of some kind to have the Social Security direct deposited to. I researched many and the Bluebird card by American Express sounded like the best. I read about at my local Wal-mart. Today(September 11th) when I got online to check my first SSD check deposit, the funds were not there. I called SSD and they confirmed that the check was direct deposited on September 9th. I then called Bluebird/American Express and I was told that yes my funds were there but American Express has just not posted them yet to my account. This was at almost 1:00pm this afternoon. I spoke to a total of 4 employees there which all gave different stories. What I did hear more than once was that "this is our policy" and that I would not get access to my money until tomorrow(12th) and it would not be available for me early in the day so I could pay my bills and that I had to wait until such and such mountain time which will be 11:00 or 12:00pm my time.

I have worked very hard my entire life like most of us have and it was hard enough for me to have to give up a dream and career as a nurse and go onto permanent disabilty without now trying to fight for my check. How can they hold my disability check that was direct deposited on September 9th? I hope nobody has to endure what I have with this company. Funny thing is that I have heard all of my adult life that American Express was a classy company and the card to have in your wallet. Wow, was I ever shocked to go through this. I am praying that I can get my money tomorrow as they stated or I will be on a corner asking for some stranger to buy my insulin and pay my electric bill and get some groceries. Please do not go this route. Get any other debit card but this one. It has been nothing but grief for me. Kroger won't take it, Sam's Club won't take it either. Now I have to do the direct deposit thing all over again. The company I worked for as a Nurse had their own cards that my check was put on every week and I never had any issues with it. Not even at gas stations, Kroger, Sam's Club or anywhere else. I am not sure exactly why they call the company AMERICAN Express.
