We wanted a banking product that we could use to help our children in college manage money as you know college kids are onerous in dealing with funds, so we wanted to try out bluebird.

We went to a local walmart, paid the fees and loaded up a card, the first problem came in getting registered.

The website does not work correctly, you may have problems setting up the account, you may have problems, using the password feature, the browser your using could have something to do with that.

They may be using an older version of software to develop the website, (outsourcing)

This means that newer browsers, may not work correctly with the website, (most of the promised features of bluebird are online features)  when you reset the password, you may get an error, unable to complete your request, "were having technical difficulties sorry for inconvenience"

You click on contact, at the website and you get the phone number for a (very busy) support center, I sure hope that walmart did not hire the same people to produce the website as they hired to provide support, (we call that a conflict of interest) but hey were easy to get on with.

The thing is when you call in you get this robotic sounding voice, stating that you can go to the website, if you need help, but the website says call the call center.

Wow, but all is not lost.

Here is the thing they are likely using an off shore call center, because when you call in they ask for your account information followed by the pound sign, (use of the pound sign in PBX based communications services, means old equipment)  (very old)

So, that screams off shore, outsourcing.

The website, is setup to use ASPX, but they appear to be unable to correctly provide support for 64 bit based browsers, so you would need to restart in 32 bit mode.

(sometimes you just think your saving money by outsourcing)

The last thing is this, IF you use Google Chrome, you can change your password.

And you can Login, the real problem is that if you try to login using another browser, its not going to work,

Over all this is a low tech approach to a high tech problem.

Wall-mart gets an F for this one, along with American Express (someone needs to be fired)
