WARNING!!!! If you buy a bluegreen timeshare you will never be able to get more than 30% of what you paid for it!!!! They change the rules frequently so what the salesman tells you now will not be valid in a few years.Initially you had priority at your home resort that is not the case anymore. So if your resort is a demand resort like shore crest at myrtle beach you are competeing with all the other "Points" owners at their 30+ other resorts. The 12 weeks in the summer that are high red are virtually impossible to get even 11 months out because people that have 25,000 or more points can book 30 days earlier than you can(another rule change). Also I was assured that Shore Crest was a Gold Crown resort and would have higher trading capabilities with RCI and II. But Shore Crest has lost it's gold crown status(Another "rule" change). For the last 4 years I have not been able to get into the Shore Crest 1 (Oceanfront) building, even though that's where I'm deeded even in the off season!!! That is because most of the front building is owned by fixed week owners who rent them out or use them themselves.

I tried to give them my $8,000 in "Equity" back to let me out of the contract and they wouldn't take it back!! They refered me to Pinnacle vacations (A blugreen Subsidiary) to try and sell my points. That was a laff after a year of being the second lowest price for 12,000 points without any offers whats so ever they finnaly sold the lowest priced one (It took a year). So I gave up on them. Bluegreen points realistically sell at 30-45 cents a point if someone if stupid enough to want to buy them. You are better off donating the timeshare to a charity and taking a write off than trying to sell it you will get a bigger deduction than if you sold it!! They are also changing the rules that if you do not buy a resale from Bluegreen,b onus time,Rci membership and vacation club membership will not transfer to the new owner making the Timeshare worthless to try to sell.I think that that change might be grounds for a class action suit since they have rendered our"investment" worthless because of that rule change!!! To get even with them send everyone you know to the free vacation getaway armed with this complaint and prices off the internet. Have them listen politley then when it comes to the price have them say "loudly" you want that much!!! here are several of the same timeshares at 1/3 the price!!!! Why would I pay 3 tmes as much?? If they talk loud enough in the "Boiler Room" they will rush them out of there before other people catch on!!! Your friends will get a 3 day getaway and you get $50 off your maintenence fees!!!!!

How to terminate ownership of a time share

Without a doubt, timeshare cancellation is the best and easiest solution to get rid of an unwanted time share. Once the contract is properly cancelled, the strings attached to the resort will be gone forever. Nevertheless, it is important to do the cancellation through the right people. There are many timeshare cancel professionals that ask for an upfront fee, and then they disappear. This is a good article on how to terminate ownership of a time share

Bluegreen Timeshare Scam

Most timeshare companies are taking advantage of people, often those who are more vulnerable and less able to resist hard sales tactics.  I have heard of many cases where maintenance costs rise well above inflation.  It would appear the timeshare companies lock people into contracts and then drive up their profits though increased maintenance charges. It would be good to see legislation whereby timeshare companies can only charge "reasonable" maintenance costs and not use this annual fee to fleece people's bank accounts
