RE: Misleading, vague, deceptive, and unprofessional sales representatives

On 02/10/14 we signed a timeshare contract with Bluegreen and on 02/13/14 we canceled our contract and sent all the paperwork to the corporate office in Florida. The reason being was that we felt that Bluegreen had mislead us through a vague and deceptive sales presentation. The sales representatives were rude and unprofessional because they did not have expert knowledge on their product nor their corporate office.

First they told us the presentation was only going to last 2 hours at the most, but it turned out to be over 4 hours. We were taken and given a presentation and the resort tour of the rooms and suites in their Las Vegas resort property Bluegreen Club 36, leading us to believe that we would be investing in that Las Vegas property. However, after we signed their contract it was revealed that we had actually bought a timeshare in Big Bear, CA. A property we had never seen in person. Bluegreen’s point system is also deceptive. We were offered 20,000 points at the price of $27,000 with 16.99% interest rate and an annual maintenance plus membership fee of $1500, and led to believe this was a sufficient amount of points. The very next day, we learned of a similar company in Las Vegas, whose offering timeshares for their actual property in Las Vegas. With that company we were offered 80,000 points at $25,000 with 17.99% interest rate and an annual maintenance plus membership fee of $700.

When we arrived the next day to cancel our contract with Bluegreen, within the legal time frame, we found out that all other employees to be completely unhelpful and unaware of any information regarding their corporate office. Finally, after waiting over half an hour our sales representative finally came out and gave us their corporate fax number and advised us to send over our cancellation form only. I asked him to also give us their corporate phone number. After more waiting, we were given a number to call (not their corporate number, the worker claimed they did not know their corporate phone number). After further investigation, I found their corporate number online and spoke to one of the representative. The corporate representative advised me to send all materials using a certified mail. So that day on February 13, 2014 we went to the UPS store and mailed out our canceled contract along with all other materials that were given to us using a one day certified mail with signature required that cost us over $160.

Our trip to Las Vegas was impacted negatively due to our experience with Bluegreen and their sales representatives. In a large purchase of any kind, the consumer should be given enough time to consider their options as supposed to feel pressured to make their decision right then in there. Also the cancellation process should be as equally as easy and fast as their sales process. Customers should always be treated with respect at all times even during cancellation process.

Do not let yourself be fooled by purchasing their timeshare at Big Bear, CA. That property is high on maintenance and not enough return on investment. Save yourself from losing over $30,000 on a dream vacations. Your money better spend on a REAL vacation or somewhere else not for Bluegreen greedy employees and corporate office.
