United States of America#2UPDATE EX-employee responds
Fri, January 20, 2012
godaddy is not a scam... per se'. But they definately love to walk the fine line. I'm an ex-employee so you can say I may be a bit biased. I left the company by my own will with 2 weeks notice. I was not fired or almost fired. When you call into gd for help you will get 1 of 2 types of people.
The first type is the techy who knows the ins and outs of everything gd has to offer and can certainly help you fix your issue, but is under tremendous pressure to sell you something. No matter how good they are at customer service or tech support, if they can't sell you something, anything, they are not doing their job in the eyes of the company.
The other type of person you will get is a sales person who could not tech their way out of a box with an open lid, but could sale ice to an eskimo. These are the golden employees. If you could get sales then it didn't matter how bad your attendance was, how rude you were to people, or if you customer had to call back in because all you actually did was sell them something instead of fixing what they had.
1 of the 2 paychecks the reps get is based on how much they sell. They call it pay for performance, not commision. When you call in, no matter what option you press on the prompts (and typically they all go to the same place anyway) you will talking to somone who needs to get you to buy/renew something. "I see you have your domain for just 1 yr, are you not plpanning to be around very long?" "I see you have your domain for 5yrs but you hosting is month to month, why don't we sync those up and save you some money!"
The $900 you were charged for 'syncing' your domains is usually the last ditch attempt to get a sale on a call. The person you spoke in the presidents office, or as they call it, office of the president, is a group of about a dozen people who have never talked to or seen the president. He has no more ability than a supervisor does, but has a bit more power. The reason they say they can't do anything to undo the charge is because the system physically can not undo it. Hope this helps support your claim.
