Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I priced out a set of kitchen cabinets in October 2001. Boston Kitchen sent their General Manager, Pat Small, and sales rep, Lynne Fraiser, to my home twice for measurements. "To insure proper fit".

When the cabinets where delivered 8 weeks later, they where either broken/smashed or the finished wood had black sap holes in it. Big enough to stick a toothpick in. The finish on the door and drawers was also not uniform.

All the endgrains looked as if they had never been finished. The "fit" problem was that I was sent a 90" tall cabinet. My kitchen ceiling is only 90" tall. It is absolutely impossible to stand the cabinet up in the house. The total cost of the cabinets was $11,500.

For this price Mr Menihtas claims that particleboard and plastic clips are acceptable constuction. He also tells me I'll get use to the holes in the finished doors and drawers. As for the 90" cabinet, I signed the layout drawings so now I own it, even if they were there twice to "insure proper fit".

Boston Kitchen has been served with a Revocation of Acceptance letter, a CH93A complaint letter, and a few phone calls from my attorney. George Menihtas steadfastly refuses to refund the money and remove his junk from my home.

His only offer to date is to replace the damaged parts of the cabinets in a piecemeal fashion. Making what I have paid for "factory seconds". There is no offer to address the inferior finish, or poor grade of wood used and an outright denial that the finish or wood even has a problem.

Repair of the damaged cabinets is also contingent on dropping the finish/quality complaint.

Be aware that this people will try to hide behind the custom/special order clause in your purchase order. There is nothing custom about these cabinets.

Their dimensions match EXACTLY the dimensions in the Kraft-Maid, Schrock, Brammer, and American Woodworking cataloges. They are mass-produced junk from ULTRA-CRAFT.

If you end up in a problem with Mr. Menihtas. Stick it out. His tactic is to wait you out. He does not believe you will go the distance.

Print out these complaints so your lawyer (if it unfortunately goes that far) will have something to show a pattern of deceptive practices when you reach the final mile.

Victims Unite!

I have been fortunate enough to have found a second victim of Boston Kitchen Distributors. We have been in contact, and there is an agreement to share information in an attempt to bring these questionable people into the light. Where one person is only an incident, I am hoping that two people can show a history. The search for more victims continues. A court filing should be happening this week.
