I attempted to purchase a vehicle from Brandon Mitsubishi/Hyundai on 6/31/08. When I entered the dealership I told the salesman I only wanted to see vehicles under $17000 because I had already been financed with my bank. The first vehicle he takes me to is a $30000 SUV and I tell him that my bank couldn't finance me for this amount so show me another vehicle. He convinces me to test drive the SUV and I make an implusive decision to let him run my credit. He does and says I'm guarenteed to be financed and I don't even have to provide income verification. (my credit is good but I'd never heard of no income verification) I sign all the paperwork, agree to $3K down; $1500 now and $1500 in the next week, leave the delaership and go home to place insurance on the vehicle. On Tuesday, while driving to work the brakes start acting funny so I call the dealership and they say bring it in and we'll give you a loaner until we fix it. Note, I've only had the vehicle 3 full day. I get a loaner and wait for the repairs to be complete. On Thursday, 6/5/08, I'm called bythe finance department who tells me they couldn't get me financed to that vehicle but they can get me financed for up to 21K unless I ut down $8K or get a co-signer. By this point I'm ready to be done with them but the finance manager tells me to think about it. On Friday I tell her that I will not use a co-signer and I don't wat anything elsethey have on their lot. I'm instructed to bring the vehicle back on Saturday morning. When I arrive at the dealership on Saturday with the loan and asks for my down payment. I'm told the accountant doesn't work on the weekends and that I can get the down payment on Monday. Arrive at dealer today and only given $811.50. Dealer charges mileage for both "purchased" vehicle and loaner: $173.50; usage of 50/day to total $300, cleaning and detailing for $150 ad gas for $68. Totals $691.50 for one week. When I ask the sales manager about this, he tries to get the general manager to refund some of the money. The GM refuses. I go to the car and read the contract and it states: " Purchaser shall pat to Dealer the sum of $50 per day for the use of the car together with cost of any excess wear and tear damage incurred after notice of return from Dealer to the Purchaser." Since I was notified on Friday to return the vehicle, why am I charged for 6 days? When I ask the General Manager he begins to go over my credit report saying you paid late on this and if you have bought a car here then I would have waived all these fees. His attitude was horrible and when I remained claim but still demanded answers he told me to get out of his office now. I am in total disbelief. I can understand them charging the $50/day like the contract states but $691.50 for one week and together both cars weren't driven 175 miles. I guess the worst part is the hositlity of the manager b/c he should be happy; he made $691 off of me and can still sell the car for the same price. Also found out the vehicle's brake problem had a TSB and the dealer could not have inspected properly before reselling to me being that my problems started after only having the car 2 days.

Forgot to add that the second downpayment check was given to my salesman who was fired later that day. So now I'm out of a large sum of money for having their vehicle one week and they give my check which was written out to the dealership to someone who I don't know and whose no longer employeed with them.
