I rented a car from Budget Car Rental, on the internet, to be picked up at Orlando International Airport (MCO) on 03 November 2015, at 5 PM. I was told where to find the vehicle. On starting the engine I recognized that the fuel gauge registered 3/4 full but, assumed that this was standard operating procedure. At the check-out gate confusion I failed to mention this to the attendant.
I returned the car 7 days later with the fuel gauge registering in excess of 3/4 full. The ckeck-in person told me to visit the counter in the terminal due to the fuel level. I disputed their assement with the above facts and, was told to go. It was 5 AM in the morning. Budget personel with authority had not arrived yet.
I recieved a statement, billing me for 2 or 3 gallons of gas. In realty a surcharge in excess of 10%. On 2 December, at 1:29 PM I contacted the Budget billing/complaint operator. In a 13 minuite conversation I explanined the situation. The only responce offered were repeated NO's. There was no effort to understand or compromize. I was talking to a stone wall. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was informed that I was talking to him. I gave up.
This happened at Orlando International, be especially cautious there. This felt like their standard Rip-off scam.
