Bunker Hill Stables Puppy mill scam New Boston NH
My wife and I decided to get a puppy back in February. We found one who seem to have decent prices, website, puppies available and was "nearby". We live in NYC and the breeder was in NH. We reached out to her and inquired about a Red/White Male AKC PWC. She did not have that one specifically but offered to put us in a list for the next upcoming litter. Couple months later the litter was born and we decided to drive up there and check it out.
The breeder was located at a horse stable far out in the countryside of NH near Manchester. We arrived and breeder kept us in the room (pretty stinky BTW) and showed us the all the sires, dam, PWC puppies and a rare colored French Bulldog (she claims it was brought from Ukraine and was selling it for $10,000!) Unfortunately, the new litter did not have the choice we wanted but she offered to pass us to the next litter and make us 1st on the list.
Hmmmm The puppy was born on June 6th and was really hard to reach out to her, we kept calling and got no answer until July 15th. We skyped and showed us the puppy. Our pick up date August, 2nd. She called me the day before to reschedule me for another date because apparently her Vet was short staffed and she did not want to drive for 1 hour. I told her the only day I could pick up the pup was that set day. I had to work the following days.
She got back to me offering free of charge (Apparently she had a late fee of $40 per day) if I pick him up the next day. The best I could do was Monday, August 6th. I took the first flight in the morning from NYC to Boston, rented a car for $120 and drove for about 2hrs. Right when I was 15 minutes away from her stable I get a call from her asking where was I and told her I was nearby. She screamed at me at the top of her lungs! telling me that I was 2hrs earlier than scheduled and that she could not take care of me until then and I said OK I will wait.
She threatened me to call the cops if I get near her property and hung up. Four minutes later she called back and said: "Do not come here, I'm going to refund your money". I turned around back to Boston airport and was able to catch the next flight back to New York. Wife and I were completely heartbroken. Five weeks had passed and our $1,500 had not been refunded to my credit card. -Breeder was charging and insane amount of money for a Limited AKC puppy $1,975 to $2,275 and as she got more litters she kept raising prices.
-She was breeding 5 females with 1 male. -When we visited she only allowed us to stay in the living room, never showed us where the puppies are kept. -She never mentioned if the dam and sires where tested for any DM and vWD. -Place smelled like urine. -She kept offering us puppies from her "affiliates". -She wanted the puppy to be paid in full before pick up and was offering $100 off if was paid in full before BEING BORN!
-She picked the puppy of us instead of us making the final choice. -When rescheduling pick up she offered to refund the money instead of accommodating. -Never signed a puppy contract. -She was not reachable through text, Facebook or any other way to reach out.
