Caisse Desjardins de la Nouvelle Beauce Caisse Populaire Sainte Marie Beauce, QC, Canada Foreclosed on my retirement home upon refusal to refi after 12 years of ownership, refusing to give me any solid reason when my payments were on time and all I needed to refi was 60K on properties with a minimum of 120K equity. I started receiving threatening correspondence from their head office, refusing to refinance the balance of the loan and stressing me when my payments were on time. I had had hip replacement the previous August in Maine and was in my home recovering. I am a US cintizen with dual citizenship but was raised there. 12 years prior to that, upon closing I had given 23000.00 CDN$. Upon trying to speak to someone from that bank and showing my US earnings in the US as a registered nurse, everyone from that institution carefully avoided me, refusing to even talk to me as would be done in a regular business setting. Finally, by April of 2015, I had to abandon my home unable to sell and losing all my equity. I tried to get other local banks to help me and refi the loan, but they could not do it as the foreclosing process was already in place. I lost everything including all the upgrades done on the house. I grew up there. I am an honest and hard working woman. This was inhumane. I strongly suspect discrimination, racism and lies that were the root of this issue that ended costing me all my savings and severe heartache. I made the very last payment of $548.00 and left. This is a very rural and provincial environment and noone from that "Caisse Populaire Desjardins" even offered to counsel or advise me so we could get to the root of the problem. The loan was for 12 years and due for renewal. I was literally being scorned in every way possible .
So, "stupid" and "ignorant" cannot be fixed as we say in the US. I only can advise people to NEVER do business with that local yocal Institution and to be very cautious if ever they decide to purchase real estate over in Quebec, unless it is bought with cash$. Americans seem to be very disliked due to our ways of expression, our trends and the way we like to live. By the way, the address of the property was (((REDACTED))), STe Marie, Beauce, Quebec, CND G6E3B4.
