Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I recently started being contacted by this slime rip off company about some fabricated debt that they say I incurred to Bank Of America or one of their many aquisitions in the 1982. I must have amnesia because as I have told each of the rude scummy individuals I have talked to, I was not aware of any such debtor creditor relationship but then neither is Bank of America.

I checked with B of A where I have an extensive banking relationship and accused them of wrongly turning my name over to a collection agency for a debt I never incurred. After extensive record investigation on their part they agree that never at any time now or in the past have I incurred any debt to them or any of the companies they aquired. They did however tell me that are aware that CAMCO is a 5th rate business that purchases lists of debts and SS numbers for a few cents each and tries to extort money from the people on those lists. They also agreed that by the 5th generation these lists are riddled with inaccuracies and just plain totally false information.

I have been told several stories by various rude crude uneducated low life threatning people at CAMCO about this alleged debt. First, I paid some unknown collection agency for 5 years then quit paying? News to me! Then I didn't pay any collection agency at all but instead tried to pay the debt off to the original unknown creditor years later? Again news to me! Then the threats started about ruining my credit and also the ridiculous offer to send them $400 right now to make this alleged $7000.00 debt go away and make them go away. They did intimidate me into obtaining a copy of my blemish free credit report which I know is a good idea anyway.

Most ludicrous of all though was their statement that they could prove I owed the debt because they have a signed affidavit by an officer of their own company that I owe this debt and that affidavit WILL stand up in a court of law. After almost dying from laughter over that statement I terminated the conversation.

What really makes me furious though is that there are probably many people who are not as dead sure as I am that there is no debt to settle but may allow this scam company to extort money from them that they may not owe. I plan to file complaints everywhere I can and I suggest that others complain loudly to any AG, BBB, or anyone else who will listen.

Camco collects on debts that are way more than 7 years old. These debts can only stay on your credit report for 7 years and selling the debt does not restart either the reporting or the legal statute of limitations. If camco ever put anything on a consumers credit report they would be wiped out in court.

Regarding CAMCO Capital Acquisitions and Management Company-- I have worked for credit card companies, phone companies and mortgage companies currently I am involved in credit counseling. Small collection agencies often buy debts from major creditors such as Bank of America for a fraction of their worth. They'll then turn around and offer a settlment for more than what they purchased the account for but for less than what was orig. owed by the consumer. These debts after charged off by the major can take several months and in some cases years to reappear and for collection efforts resume by the company who now owns the debt. If you have any question about a debt pull a copy of your credit report. It is suggested that you pull your credit report every 6 mos. to watch for fraud and any other discrepancies which might appear. Dont pay until you have the facts. If its legit it should be on your credit report.

In your state it is legal for your to tape incoming phone messages and you do not even need to let them know they are being taped. As you are aware it is illegal to threaten your credit report or legal action(on a time barred debt). I see you also found out about their 'signed affadavit of ownership." I cannot believe people fall for that. If you can get them on tape with their illegal threats you can sue them for $1000 in small claims. Camco gets CREAMED in court every day. Make sure you file with the FTC, the oklahoma attorney general, and the illinois attorney general. The Il AG is up to 215 complaints and camco has been turned over to their chicago office which may or may not mean anything but I am hoping someone is taking notice. Tape them and then sue them.
