Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Since there are no other Rip-Off Reports about CampBX yet, I will give a bit of background here. CampBX is a mostly online platform that is used to buy and sell bitcoin (cryptocurrency). The main method of deposit is to send them a USPS money order. If you send CampBX a money order with your account details on the money order they will deposit your funds into an online cash account on their platform. There are two ways to withdraw funds from CampBX. One is to buy bitcoins using your cash balance and then transfer bitcoins to another wallet online. The other way is to sell your bitcoins to CampBX and then request that CampBX send you a cashiers check by certified mail for the cash balance in your account.

My advice to you is: Stay away from CampBX at all costs. I had a good series of experiences with them, making both money order deposits and cashier check withdrawls up until September 2015. In late Sept 2015 I attempted to make a $915 withdrawl from my cash balance. First, the check took over one month to arrive by certified mail. And then when I attempted to deposit the check at my bank it was refused. I tried again a little while later and the bank manager confiscated my check.

It was quite obvious to a trained observer that the check was fraudulent. There was no bank name on the check and the routing number was the same as the check number. I notified CampBX of my misfortune via their support ticket system and I got some kind of response that was NOT copy/pasted. They eventually tried to send me another check by certified mail, but I refused delivery on it as under Oregon law I could by only a little bit of a stretch be held personally liable for having a fraudulent financial document in my posession.

I instructed CampBX to deposit my $900 back into my cash account so that I could buy more bitcoin and get my cash back by selling bitcoin on an escrow exchange somewhere else, but it has been almost one year and my cash account still only has one cent in it, not $900.

I did still have 2 bitcoin on deposit with CampBX and I was able to move those bitcoin to another escrow exchange and sell them. I may have gotten a 'cold wallet' error message once, but that didn't last long before I was able to move my bitcoin out of CampBX.

I have filed a criminal complaint with the FBI Internet Fraud Division, but I have yet to hear back from the FBI or get a coherent response from CampBX to any futher support ticket requests.

A final note: It seems that there just may be no such animal as a completely legit bitcoin exchange in the USA. The escrow exchange that I used is too low an information content to be compliant with anti-money-laundering rules and Coinbase makes you give up your login details to your online banking login, which my bank manager advised me is not legit either. For now, I'm using Coinbase, but even that had a name change recently and I had to hunt around on their new site to find my old bitcoin deposit.  It is still there, thankfully, but who knows how long that will last or if I will not get my money back when I attempt a withdrawl?

My Issue With Camp Bx Has Been Resolved

#2Author of original report

Wed, September 14, 2016

I tried calling their phone number and left a message. They responded on 8/11/16 by creating a support ticket regarding my phone message. They were not at all clear about the origin of my complaint, but they asked me to send them a copy of the copy of the bogus check. Soon after receiving the copy of the check, they credited my cash balance account with the $915 on 9/7/16. Then I purchased more bitcoin and then transferred the bitcoin to an escrow seller which resulted in most of my $900 being deposited into my bank account. There are plently of other people who have not had their issues resolved that you can find by doing a Google search. Good luck to you all. It is embarrassing that I have to use bitcoin to transfer money within the USA, but that is the breaks I guess. During my dealings with them there was a period of time where I was unable to access their site from my home Internet connection and I had to use an Internet cafe to log onto their site. That issue has also now been resolved. Sigh.
