On January 31, 2009 I bought a workout bike from the Canadian Tire store in Fenelon Falls, Ontario. On February 24, 2009 the welding broke, so I took it apart, put it all in boxes and took it back to the store on February 26 2009.

When I got it all into the store at the customer service desk, the lady looked it up and noted it was a special return, and needed a RA number. She went to speak to the store owner, Alex Joannides who came to speak with me. He advised I need to call as he can't return it at the store as he won't get his money back for it. I was baffled, so I asked to use a phone to call them or head office to deal with this. He stated I could call them when I got home and he refused to offer me a phone to use!

I asked him if someone could help bring this all outside, so he said he would. I advised him on the way out he lacked customer service skills and that I will be calling his head office, and he advised me to get a move on and leave! I asked him to load it into my truck, he lifted it out of the buggy and dropped it on the parking lot in front of me and said do it yourself!!!

What? ... is this really happening? I said, wow, I cant believe your doing this, and I was shocked at his actions... a verbal argument broke out and he advised me to get off the property and not to return to the store, so as I was trying to put it all back into my truck he got on the two way radio and called for another male to come out and said to me, you want a scene, now you got one!

I advised I was trying to leave, but I had to load it all myself, so... once it was loaded I drove off and returned home. I called Can. Tire head office and filed a complaint. The call taker advised that he should have called the manufacture and obtained the RA number and I should have got my money back. WOW... so all this for something that Alex should have just returned himself. Head office is doing an investigation and advised me to take it to any Can. Tire for a refund. I am also getting a letter from the manufacture to ensure there will be no other problems with the return.

Try working for the man. He is nothing but self-centered. He thinks of only himself. He was my boss for 6 months and without warning he flew in someone from fellon falls to take my job in new brunswick. The day the person arrived I was given the boot. He is a rude boss who doesn't mind yelling at employees in the ailses of the store. If you are not willing to kiss his a$$ then he doesn't care for you. The Alex described in this complaint sounds exactly like the Alex I know. The kind and caring Alex is FAKE and only exists when he wants customers to continue to spend money.

I have been to that same store many times, my husband and I go about once a week to get supplies for the house and never ever had any problems.

I've actually met the owner, Alex Joannides on a few occasions and to be quite honest he's been nothing but helpful and professional so I don't really know what you're talking about unless you were being a difficult customer which seems like it were the case and I don't think anyone would be helpful after having an argument kinda of funny that you would think so! I think you're just upset you didn't get your money back and you took it out on him!
