Candles Of America Accent Candles Site Asessments Sold questionable business opportunity distributorship fraudulent ripoff business ripoff waste of time Phoenix Arizona
I would stay away from these guys. They used to go under
the name Candles of America, now they call themselves
Accent Candles...both out of Phoenix, Arizona.
Although the president Dean Walker says he has sold out,
I'm not sure I believe it. They still have the same web
site at www.candlesofamerica.com and at least some of
the same employees.
COA charges you $6000 for a territory and tell you to
spend another $2000 with Site Asessments (also of Phoenix) to find you 15 sites to place your candle displays.
The sites from Site Asessments end up to be bogus and they don't honor their guarantee to find other sites. They verbally promise to find sites that sell at least 2-3 candles per day per site. Not sure if there is a
relationship between these two companies but I suspect
there is. They promised a refund but have never followed
through on that.
Candles of America sends you a whopping 900 candles
for your original inventory shipment. These candles
can retail for between $3 and $5 depending
on which ones you get and your locations. Your cost
to reorder them is $1 each. That's a lot of blue sky,
which would be ok if they really support you and if
you really sold 3 candles a day per location...but
they don't. You don't get to pick your original
inventory either so you end up with some dogs that
don't sell. Once you get your shipment you are really
on your own. Training is a joke.
So if you want to be in the candle business, find
someone else to take your money. I would have done
better to buy $8000 in lottery tickets.
