I gave them money, but they did not send me the product. I sent them $39.00 as an application fee for a platnium card. They DID say Visa. I spoke to a Marion Wilson who said that I did get accepted for a Visa card. He also offered me more benifits, but I never received any card, or any information at all. I have tried to call on several occassions, to no avail. John San Francisco, California

#2Consumer Suggestion

Thu, May 02, 2002

ADVERTISEMENT I am a public interest consumer attorney in San Diego, specializing in class action law suits and private attorney general actions. A woman called my office last month with another complaint against this company. My assistant then pointed out to me that he had seen the Rip-Off report on the internet and that there seem to be multiple schemes carried out by E-Credit Solutions aka Capital Credit Alliance. We are not yet clear how many of these individuals reside in the state of California. However, we are considering filing a suit against this company on behalf of California citizens, if we can determine that this was really widespread in California and if we can get responsible lead plaintiffs to represent the interests of the public relating to each of the various E-Credit/Capital Credit Alliance schemes. I am also a professor of economics and often talk to my students about multiple issues relating to credit and consumer issues. I have the following common-sense suggestions. In addition to the fact that it would be a good idea to explore the option of representing other individuals similarly hurt in order to stop these guys through a private attorney general law suit (or class action), my general advise is to #1 research a company BEFORE you give out any personal information or money, including a BBB as well as other checks (such as the Rip-off report). And certainly do not rely on THEIR website. If they have links to supposed independent agencies, check to make sure it is really an independent agency and that it is really the OFFICIAL i.e. legit. internet site for that independent agency #2 it probably doesn't make much sense to get a credit card that charges an annual fee up front, #3 Try using a mastermoney or visa check cashing type card through your bank and work with a local bank to build your credit in that way, working your way up to a "real" credit card #4 If you do get a credit card to build your credit, then please spend only what you can MORE than easily pay off every month. #5 If E-Credit Solutions or any company falsely reports information on your credit report, be sure to dispute it with the credit reporting agencies such as Experion, etc. I hope this helps.
