On May 14th, I received a call from Capital One's fraud department asking me if I authorized a string of charges throughout Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, I've never been to any of those places and certainly didn't order anything online. Capital One immediately closed the account and began a fraud investigation.

We also made the mistake of overpaying our bill prior to the account closure, in the amount of $328.07. This normally wouldn't have been a problem, as our account would have reflected that credit, and would have been used on future charges. Since the account is now closed, the money is in limbo. Capital One keeps telling me they've sent a check, although I've never received one. Every time I call in they tell me to wait another week. I can't seem to get anyone to move this credit to my new account, either.

When Capital One closed the account, we lost all access to our statements, which are online-only. Supposedly, there is no way to link prior statements on our old account to the new one. This has been a major hassle, especially since I haven't yet received any paperwork from the fraud department or been able to review my last statements for other fraudulent activity.

Capital One refuses to even fax me these last account statements. Most recently, I've been dealing with David, a Senior Account Manager. His employee number is ICU561. Supposedly, all of these items have been mailed and magically none have arrived.

I understand there are limits on the amount of time I have to contest fraudulent charges, and I feel Capital One has not been acting responsibly.

This certainly isn't "No Hassle"
