Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I just received a "credit card" in the mail today stating that I had a credit purchase limit of $6,500. The only thing was, I had never heard of CCA. I, like many other postings read on the site, was curious so I looked them up on the internet. At first I only put CCA. The things that came up didn't seem right. Then I put CCA First National. This site came up. I didn't know what to think, but I am not the kind of person to get taken advantage of. So I read everyone's postings. I still gave the company the benefit of the doubt. In the last posting I read, the gentleman said he was curious about what would happen if he called to activate the card. He continued on about his telephone experience. So, I thought to myself, I'm going to see if that's what happens when I call. I'm pretty good at stumping people too (if they're being dishonest and I know it). I'm going to tell you what my experience was, too. And I encourage anyone who reads this to call up for yourself, but be careful. Never give out any personal information. Here's what my experience was: A guy (young sounding - and I'm good with voices) picks up the phone. He asks me for my approval number. I asked him to please answer a couple of questions for me first. He says okay, even sounds friendly. So, I ask him what is "CCA"? He replies that it stands for Capitol Credit Alliance. I ask him how I got the card. He says he doesn't know, which I can understand seeing as to how I haven't given him any information yet. So then I ask him if the company has a website. He says he doesn't think so because they're a catalog company and it would cost too much money, but he will ask "Roger" and he puts me on hold. He comes back to the phone and says that their website "is under construction and stuff and the people are working on it and stuff". By now, the guy is already making me suspicious. He sounded very dumbfounded the whole time I talked to him. So, I went ahead and said, okay... what's the catch? He says, 'oh there is no catch' and starts rattling off his sales pitch about how there is no fees or interest rates, etc. Then he even says, 'it's actually against the law for me to be saying this because I have to go through the whole thing first' and says something about him not being able to give some sort of "pre-approval". Now it was my understanding I was already approved. *shrug* Anyway, I think, obviously, I'm not going to see how legit they are until I give him my approval number. After that, let's see what kind of personal questions he asks me (because everyone knows, or should know, you NEVER give out certain personal info on the phone). He then tells me that my purchase limit has been raised to $8,500. I thought that was funny, since I had read the same thing in a few other postings. Anyway, he knows I don't want to hear his sales pitch, so he is even nice enough to skip most of it for me. In the mean time, he's already dropped his headset and gotten an error message on his computer (at one point thinking he was even going to have to have me call back). Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Well, he asks me certain questions that I don't think are very harmful, so I answer them. Some of the questions were: 1 - He confirmed my home address 2 - He confirmed how long I've lived at my address 3 - Asked for my home phone number 4 - Asked if I was employed, and the phone number 5 - Asked my annual income 6 - He asked me if I had a good checking account. I said yes. And he says, a checking or savings? I told him both. After that, he sounded like he was having computer problems again. This time he asks me to hold on so he can get his co-worker to unfreeze his computer. I said sure. When he put me on hold I hung up. Anyway, I went through all the same things as everyone else, because I don't believe everything I hear, especially if it's negative against someone else. I figure just because someone else has a bad experience with someone doesn't necessarily make that person bad. But in this case, there were a lot of reports pointing toward the negative. I'm just glad I was curious enough to look them up on here before calling. It was an even better confirmation for me when everything I read happened to me when I called. They are sigbibg customers up to shop in their catalogs, no different than FINGERHUT. They record every conversation and have all of them on file. I worked sales and customer service. I am not sure if all employees know what is going on , since most dont stay very long, and they hire anyone. They are located on SAHARA AVENUE..
