We gave Capmire Projects nearly $100,000 to remodel our home. They did work without permits until caught by the City Inspector, did not install most things correctly, would not honor their warranties, and left our house a mess. They said they had 14 years of experience and told us about all the expensive homes they had built in Bellaire. Turns out, the homes they represented as having "built" were homes that were built while they were working for another remodeling company. Capmire Projects began in 2008 (the year we started our remodel) and they had no experience owning and operating their own business. As a result, MANY mistakes were made that WE are having to pay for.

I have not read all of the rebuttal as I don't want to get upset and write anything negative.

I wrote the first compaint when the owner and I were going back and forth over what would not/could not be fixed and I was irate.  If I had the opportunity to remove the first post, I would have.  I admit it was very reactionary.

Since that first post, we have had a meeting at our property.  At that meeting, Capmire agreed to make good on all of its warranty issues with us.  The owner was sincerely contrite that things did not go as planned.  They accepted shared responsibility for some of the things that did not go correctly.  They have since been out at our property several times to correct the issues that their subs did not do correctly the first time or to my expectations.  I feel like it took a while to get to this point, but Capmire has been very accommodating in getting our issues taken care of.

While the GCs are not directly involved in the physical labor like laying the tile or installing the plumbing, I feel like Capmire would benefit its customers more by being more detailed in checking the work of their subs. I feel like that is what the upcharge is for... so you won't have to go back and check that the faucets work correctly or if there was a water line in place for the refrigerator.

I have learned a lot in this process and hope that this relatively new company did too.  I learned to get everything in writing, as to avoid miscommunication from both parties.  I learned to get permits for everything (we had consented to the non-permitting).  I learned that remodeling is a very emotional experience!  And I learned that you, the homeowner, need to be very specific as to what you want, so the project completion meets your expectations.

I was remiss in saying that the owner was dishonest.  My reasoning for saying that was that there were things that were said verbally that were not honored.  It is more likely now that they were just misunderstandings.

Although I was disappointed in the some of the work done by their subs, they did have some good subs as well.  The cabinet makers were amazing, the granite in my kitchen and bathrooms looks exquisite and the arches they framed in the house are beautiful.

I think that it is quite different working with another company and owning your own company.  I think that with more experience, Capmire can work out the kinks and might be a company you would want to remodel your home.

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, December 04, 2009

My name is Cameron G Capps. Owner of Capmire Projects, 832-309-5249 or [email protected]. Please feel free to contact me at any time regarding any of these false accusations made against us on this or any other site they may complain on. First off, we have made good on all our repairs. We are a small company and we take customer service very seriously. We do not advertise and work strictly on word of mouth. How can a company operate on word of mouth if they are such a horrible dishonest company as these people are claiming us to be? Marshall and Melissa Law were friends of ours through family and friends. So for me to find such slanderous remarks made on a public website has me dumbfounded. I challenge anyone to find an all round bad remark to be made about my company. My brother and I never claim to have built homes in Bellaire as Capmire, we do disclose to some customers that we have built over a dozen mansions in Bellaire, and we use that experience as a selling point to some "higher end" customers to show them the extent of our building knowledge. Who would not use positive items on their resume, so to speak, to sell themselves as qualified? But NEVER do we claim those homes as a Capmire built home. They know this and are twisting it around on us. Also, we never claim to have 14 years experience. Marshall has known me for a long time, even well before I was in this business, so they know very well I have not been building for that long myself. We had a combined 14 years when my ex-partner and I started this company. Between my brother and I, we have now over 11 years combined knowledge in this field. Research our company. It is now listed as Cameron G Capps DBA Capmire Projects. We started our first job in Nov of 2007. Filed with the City as a partnership in January 2, 2008 as Capmire Projects. My partner left for other ventures, and I became sole owner in the mid year of 2008. Now these people, Marshall and Melissa Law, claim their remodel started in 2008. That is 100% false as they did not even acquire their loans til 2009. We submitted a bid for them around Dec of 2008, they did not come back to us on that bid til around February of 2009. We were not awarded all the work, thus we were not the controlling GC on the jobsite. As far as many mistakes, this is false and another attempt to throw more slander our way. It goes much deeper than they are willing to state. I stand by our company 100% and I can prove our customer satisfaction with our clients, other than these people obviously. 1 bad apple out of 85ish is pretty good percentages of satisfaction. Ok...From 2008-present, pick one or as many days as you like. I will give you the contact information of that particular homeowner or homeowners we were working for at that time. I can promise you that you will get nothing short of a good review on us. This way you know we are not just picking the clients we want you to talk to. NEVER have we had one single complaint about us once we have completed a project. NOT ONE. So, it is unfortunate to have one displayed about us publicly now, and by people who we thought were friends even makes it worse. Like I said earlier, they neglect to update this information for us, as I have asked Marshall to do so for me. He never responded in my attempt, so I had to defend myself since he would not correct their statements. We are 100% complete at their home and even met to resolve any issues with them in person. WE ALL came to agreements and I honored our repair list given to us to the fullest. That was also neglected to be told here. So, there are always two sides to a story. I can tell you, we are one of the best remodelers in Houston you can find. Our client base can speak in behalf of us, what more does one need? Again, this is unfortunate to have this written about us and I can assure you that their information is misleading

CAPMIRE REDEEMING ITSELF!!!

Have everything in writing, as there were some instances where there were misunderstandings about what I, the homeowner, wanted and what was delivered.  However, Capmire is now doing its best to make good on those differences.
