Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This ATM is located in Target, well lighted safe area at a customer service desk.  I had used it before and since it is part of the Allpoint network there are no ATM fees.  I had $414 in this account and requested $400.  The machine seemed to function correctly as usual but I was shocked to see the receipt said $400 however only dispensed $200.

I checked my account online immediately and discovered that indeed they did deduct the entire $400.  I informed the customer service desk at Target and of course they could do nothing since the machine is owned by Cardtronics and they have no key so they suggested I call the number on the machine, which I did.  The number only allows you to leave a voice mail and tells you to contact your card issuer, which I did next.  I was told that Cardtronics/Allpoint service will investigate and contact my card issuer within 45 days (45 days!!!) but within 10 days I will receive the $200 back as a courtesy service while the investigation proceeds.

Seriously?  Do they not service this machine and count the money ast least every few days??!!! Why would it take them 45 days?

Now nearly 45 minutes wasted and still I have $200 taken from me and possibly waitiing 10 days for my account to be credited, and will they even allow the credit to stay after their "investigation"?

I had thought that perhaps I just got an unlucky break that day, but on a quick search I have discovered this is a common issue with any Allpoint / Cardtronics ATM machine which leads me to believe this is done on purpose to allow them to keep thousands of dollars for up to a month and a half in their control (can you imagine the interest they are accumulating!) and/or keep the money period for those who just let it slide and do not pursue the error.

I have contacted Allpoint and Target to see if they can speed up this investigation with no response so far.  Target should really consider taking these machines out and having a major bank's ATM in their stores like they had a few years ago.

Funny how if someone overdrafts they want to charge you $35 but if a banking system takes your money they expect to keep it for over a month for free.  I would love to pursue legal action for all the wasted time and aggravation their error has caused me.
