Careington International Corporation Aka HealthcareOne Steal from the elderly! Frisco Texas
I write this report on behalf of my elderly parents. Careington International Corporation, aka HealthcareOne contacted them at the end of December of 2008, offering discount dental and prescription drug coverage. As senior citizens, and in today's economy, any help covering costs is welcome. The company made their sales pitch, and my parents fell for the scam, making a credit card payment of $39.95 that night.
Materials from Careington/HealthcareOne, such as cards and written information, arrived in my parents' mail mid-January 2009, about 15 days after payment was made.
What the company did not report to my senior parents is the fact that the nearest provider honoring the discount dental program was over 75 miles away! Because of this, the member cards my parents received from Careington/HealthcareOne were never activated, as my parents had no intention of using a service which did not deliver on its promises.
They were given a 30-day period, from the date of receipt of materials, to look over the policy/agreement. Once they realized they would have to invest significant time and money from their fixed social security income in order to travel a great distance to the nearest provider, they decided to opt out of the program.
My mother contacted the company by telephone in early February, well-under the 30-day deadline for refund. She was told there would be no refund, in spite of the company's criminal misrepresentation, misleading my parents to believe this discount service was popular and would be honored by dentists in their area. Numerous attempts have been made by my parents to recover money taken from them.
At the time of this writing, the company continues their fraud and refuses to refund their money. My parents have decided to report this matter to everyone possible in order to spread the word: Stay away from Careington International Corporation aka HealthcareOne!
This matter will be taken to every consumer and government agency having relevance to matters such as this, including the courts! I would urge anyone else having a similar dilemma with this or any other company to do the same. Good luck!

I have only been a member of healthcareone for 3 months, But Im actually very impressed that i was able to obtain some kind of help with my medical bills, at first i was thinking that there was a catch, some kind of limit that the sales rep wasn't telling me about. But I figured at that point i had already spent so much money on my endocrinologist and my dental work that i might as well check it out. When I realized my dentist didn't honor the program, I was disappointed, I figured that i got scammed again. So i called customer service to complain, but they gave me a location to a dentist in my area that would honor the program. I must say i was blown away when i seen that the remaining balance of my bill was half of what I thought it would be, I was pretty impressed. I definitely disagree that the company is misleading, they did tell me on the phone that some of the fees I paid were non refundable, When I asked "why?" the sales rep didn't really have an answer, but he did repeat that some of the fees were not refundable several times and I decided to make the purchase anyway. Why would you act surprised when the company said there would be no refund? I don't think that is fraud, it sounds like the elderly parents who purchased the program thought the refund policy didn't apply to them.

Careington takes pride in assisting members at every step in the membership experience. Careington is a discount medical plan organization located in Frisco, TX that offers various discount plans to help consumers save money at participating providers. Healthcare One is a private label marketer, uses their own brand, of Careington's discount medical plans. Careington must approve all marketing and fulfillment material that Healthcare One uses in their marketing efforts. Healthcare One handles the billing, complaint resolution, and cancellation and refund requests for all members that join a Healthcare One plan. All discount medical plans approved by Careington do have a trial period that begins from the time the consumer receives the written membership material. If a consumer cancels within the trial period they will be refunded their money, less the one-time processing fee. If the dates you detailed in the case of your parents are accurate then they are due a refund of the periodic fee they paid to Healthcare One. Careington would like to assist in resolving the issue surrounding your parents' membership.
