Date of Cruise: Jan. 2006. Our cruise group of 94 family and friends had our 5 day cruise out of Mobil, Alabama cancelled due to the hurricane Katrina.

I rescheduled the trip out of Galveston, Texas. Carnival had promised us an onboard credit of $100.00 per person if we rescheduled. This sounded like a good deal and 59 of us rescheduled. I was the group organizer and it took me over a year planning this trip.

On the first day aboard ship, members of my group were telling me that they did not have the onboard credits.

I went to the Pursers office and was told that according to the home office, we did not warrant the credits. I had with me the written statement from Carnival giving us the credits.

The Pursers office said there was nothing they could do.

Every day I went to the Pursers office to get this corrected but nothing changed. Needless to say, this ruined my vacation.

Once I got back home, I pursued the issue with Carnival. After over a month, they finally admitted that they were wrong. I asked them to refund the $100.00 per person to everyone. They said they would and sent me an email listing everyone that would get the refund.

After another month and many phone calls, some started to get the $100.00. At this time, they refunded $100.00 to each family but not to each family member. Repeated emails have gone unanswered.

Trying to talk to Customer Relations is a joke. They have no idea what is going on and don't care. I am a very calm person but after talking to an extremely rude person in Customer Relations, I have pretty much lost it.

All I am asking it that the company do what is right.

As for the cruise, it was ok. There were port changes that were not expected, food was ok and most of the crew nice. Our cabin could have been cleaner.

This was my third cruise. Would I take another one on Carnival? After all I have been through, probably not.

Carnival Cruise Lines admitted that they made a mistake

#2Author of original report

Sat, March 25, 2006

03/25/06 Carnival has contacted me and admitted that they made a mistake. They said they will refund everyone in my group the $100.00 promised. I have to say that working with the Group Planners of CCL has been a pleasure. They listen and check everything to make sure it is correct. If it hadn't been for them, I think we would still be fighting for what is due to us. On the other hand, working with Customer Relations, from my experience and several others I have talked to, not a good group of people.
