Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I have not received my DMV sticker renewal in the mail but my tag is going to expire so I went online and typed in DMV.ORG registration renewal and it linked me to a DMV.org website and from there you click on the icon that mimics the Official DMV logo and it re-directs you to Cartagz.com.

Next thing I knew I was putting in my information and paying over the DMV price.  I ended up paying $210.99 when my registration renewal should only cost me $159.00.  I called my bank immediatly when a co-worker alerted me, they did the reversal for me right there and then because it was "Pending"  Then the very next day, on pay day, they did a debit card transaction and took $210.99 out of my account again, Now I am awaiting my bank's pending claims so I can go to the actual DMV and get a sticker.

I got a notice from them that says I have to get a smog check on my car, I got a smog check on my car last year, that is strange.  So I emailed the company with the email provided to me, I asked them to give me my money back.  They replied with "Our system does not allow you to pay if you read and agree to the terms of use"  Hello-Terms of use of the DMV, that I though I was agreeing to, Not a Rip off third party.   Again, I replied with "Please give me my money back"  they have not responded.  If they are a "Legally operating business" in the state of California, then they have no problem giving me my money back.

It is very deceptive to use small prints at the bottom of their webpage saying they are not the DMV nor any govt agency.  Small prints at the bottom when putting in DMV.org re-directed me to them.  They should have this on every page in red at check out.  Right next to the box where they asked for your credit card information should state this and disclouse this.

You cannot reach them by phone, they asked you to submit a form if you want to reach them.  Really?!!!

This is highway robbery, why are they operating business still, since 2010.  This is rediculous.  Deceptive website, deceptive advertising, deceptive website re-direction.  DMV Legal should not allow this.   Especially a link that mimics the official DMV website.  I mean come on, DMV.Gov, who would have known.

I was so afraid of being scamed online, but had no idea that a site like this would exist especially since they use the word "DMV"  "DMV registration renewal"  etc.  They are so deceptive prying on the fear of those who need to renew their registration.

Now I know that for California it is the Officaial site is: DMV.CA.Gov.

After a couple of back and forth emails.  Cartagz refunded me the extra amount they charged me to renew my registration.  I went to the DMV in person and received my sticker.

I am happy to say I only paid what I should have only paid, 159.00 for a renewal and not 210.99.

Even the lady at the DMV was shocked.  She said she gets people coming in all the time confused with what happend.

Lesson learned here!!!

As for DMV.ORG, it was nice of them to reach out and offered to help me.
