A couple years ago my husband and I got swindled into buying a Rainsoft Water system from Daystar Marketing.  We signed papers and finance terms with Daystar Marketing and had the system installed.  At some point our account was transferred to a third party finance company, Castle Credit Corporation without our signing any papers or agreements with them.  Innocently we continued to make payments not realizing that with Castle Credit $60 or more of a $100 payment each month was being applied to their "Financing fees".

When my husband got laid off and our income dropped to less than a quarter of what it had been, we contacted all our creditors to work out arrangements.  Castle Credit was not only not willing to work with us, despite over a year of excellent payment history, but they commenced collections that included phone calls from their "Legal Department" where they cursed at us, threatened us with legal action, lead us to believe that they had a lien on our home since this was a home improvement loan, and told us we owed our balance in full.

They continued to accept $100 payments for the next few months and then all of a sudden were demanding payment of over $4,000 in full.  They refused to work with us or take payments any longer.   So I did some digging.  They have a C rating with the BBB and the lien on our home they were threatening us with was really a UCC notice filed with the county.  Nothing more than notice that they have a financial interest on the water system.  They can have it!

They responded to a report through BBB saying they were willing to work with them, just call them.  They sent me a copy of my agreement with them as I requested, since I didn't have anything stating I agreed to do business with them.  Sure enough, all the paperwork says "Daystar Marketing" with no mention that Castle Credit would ever be in the picture.  I'm now contacting a lawyer because I feel we've been victims of these two companies and want to stand up for our rights.

I am curious, you said "A couple years ago"  then said "They continued to accept $100 payments for the next few months and then all of a sudden were demanding payment of over $4,000 in full. "

How much did this water "system" cost in full in the begining and how much have you paid on it if you still owe $4000?  You also said you were swindled. You were not swindled because you could have said no but chose to sign a contract.

Your complaint is about Daystar Marketing who you bought the system from and the finance company you originally contracted with.

Course my thought is if after "A couple years" and you still owe $4000, was this super power water? Maybe it came out of the faucet with gold flakes?
