STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I purchased my home security system in June 2007 from SAI alarm. The sales person was very pushy and required a signed agreement that day with installation the same day.  The sales person also stated that a $100 initiation fee was to be waived in my case since I had wiring in my home from a previous system.  I also did not receive the signs that were promised.  Alas, 10 months later, the company charged my credit card for the fee for which I was told I had a waiver, and when I called the company, they stated that they had the right to charge me because it was in the contract.  After a couple months, and a report to the Better Business Bureau, the money was refunded.  I should have cancelled then.

After three long years I completed the initial contract obligations. I sent a letter on July 7, 2010 to cancel my subscription. To my surprise I was told I've already been enrolled in an additional 1 year contract since I didn't send a written letter 30 days prior to my original contract termination date. How in the world was I supposed to remember three years later to send a written letter to terminate my contract 30 days prior! They do not have the right to automatically extend any contract without my permission.  I am not paying the additional year.

My contract has changed names two times in the three year commitment I signed up for. My original contract was with SAI alarms, that now goes by Castle Rock. This is all signs of a company trying to avoid bad PR for terrible customer service practices. It appears the only way they can get and keep customers is by forcing them into renewal contracts.

Why would anyone want to entrust the security of their home to a company with such poor business practices??  I am writing a report to the Better Business Bureau again.  I would also willingly participate in any class-action suit or group action against this company.
